"Something To Remember"

mushy
what is your favourite Madonna ballad? her "something to remember" album is filled with some of the most beautiful songs ever...Madonna fan or not. i think it's time she gives us 'something else to remember' wink If you don't have this album you should be ashamed of yourself. disbelief which ballads would you put on a vol. 2 of her ballads collection?

thanks! thumbs up!

I own this album, i got a good deal on it.

THh catchiest Madonna ballad is "Crazy for you" but my favorite goes to "Live to Tell." It's lyrics are dark and the mood and music of the song is one of a kind.

This collection failed to put "the look of love" from her "who's that girl" soundtrack.

Madonna 'Easy Ride:The Ballads Collection'

"Nothing Fails"
"Sooner Or Later"
"The Look Of Love"
"Don't Talk To Strangers" (previously unreleased song with Babyface, recorded in 1997)
"Bad Girl"
"Shoo Be Doo"
"Time Stood Still"
"The Power Of Good-Bye"
"You Must Love Me"
"In This Life"
"Don't Cry For Me Argentina"
"Easy Ride"
"Gone"

I've never heard "Don't Talk To Strangers" but I heard that it's very similar to "Take A Bow".It could be a new single from this CD.

Yeah Who's That Girl related track got snubbed again.

DavidEye, are you creating tracklists for perfectly marketable compilations again?

I'm trying to...lol...but when you really think about it,the best Madonna ballads already appeared on 'Something To Remember'.There's not too much else to choose from.Maddy really needs to do more ballads (lol).

where is the best track from ROL... Has To Be?

also a quick note the orinal pressing of Something to remember was a clear cd case with the track list printed on the cd and inserted upside down, so you can see it.

My favorites off that album are Oh Father and the title track. It's a great compilation, a little tough to enjoy tho cuz some of those songs were so heavily overplayed that I usually would skip over them when listening to the album.

Forbidden Love is probably 1st or a close 2nd, in addition to Take a Bow, This Used to Be My Playground, Crazy For You, and Live to Tell. Overall I favor the dance hits more than the ballads.

It's a very patchy compliation it starts of well but towards
the end of the disc we get 2 of the worst songs she's ever recorded:

'Forbidden Love'
'one More Chance'
...Your coochie gonna swell up and fall apart...

There's a whole slew of ballads that have come out since "Something To Remember". They would actually sound pretty good together considering her last 3 albums' tone. She could use any of these:

half of Evita, although those songs don't compile very well.

Frozen
Power Of Goodbye
Substitute For Love
To Have And Not To Hold
Little Star
Mer Girl
Like A Flower (unreleased)
Has To Be
Time Stood Still
I Deserve It
Nobody's Perfect
Paradise (Not For Me)
Gone
Love Profusion
Nothing Fails
Intervention
X-Static Process
Easy Ride

And some great ones she didn't use the first time around:

The Look of Love (one of her best!!!)
Promise To Try
Love Song
Spanish Eyes
Sooner Or Later
What Can You Lose?
Bad Girl
In This Life
Inside Of Me
Love Tried To Welcome Me
Sanctuary

"This Used To Be My Playground" is very underestimated and unfornately is never performed live (has it ever been?).

That is the pressing I have. Back in my rabid Madonna fan days (seriously rabid...foaming at the mouth and everything! drool) I used to post on one of the Madonna usenet groups (alt.fan.madonna, I believe), and one of the Warner reps posted wanting people's feedback on the clear case. They got it, and they changed it. I still prefer that packaging.

Borderline will forever be my favorite ballad of hers, followed closely by Live to Tell Promise to Try. Forbidden Love is another good one. There were rumors running rampant at the time of this things release that a video had been done to promote FL, that had a Shakesperean theme or something like that. Clearly that never happened. Shame, really. That would have been a good single choice.

"Forbidden Love" was an obvious choice for a single.Such a sexy, sultry song.I think it was originally planned to become a single, but alot of fans petitioned for "Human Nature" to become a single instead.

I think these should have been the singles from 'Bedtime Stories' (in this order)...

Secret
Take A Bow
Forbidden Love
Inside Of Me

I like "Human Nature" and the title track, but I wouldn't have cared if those songs had just remained album tracks.

I'm glad they were singles, if only to get the great videos that accompanied them. Bedtime Story is one of my top ten favorite videos of all time!

Rain. It's as if Phil Spector decided to produce Madonna. A great (if dated) wall of sound, but it manages to evoke incredible warmth and affection.

I will always love Take A Bow!!!! I love that ballad because it has that R&B-type flavor in it.
