But INXS and U2 are cool. sad

For the most part I didn't like the mainstream Rock that was very corporate and FM radio-friendly. You know, like:

Journey
Styx
REO Speedwagon
Billy Squier
Jefferson Starship
Night Ranger
Foreigner
Toto
Don Henley
Boston
.....man, they sucked. disbelief

Thank God for New Wave!!!!! smile

NUMBER ONE CHOICE GOES TO WHITNEY HOUSTON.

Others I don't like are:

Freddie Jackson
Anita Baker
Regina Belle
Melissa Morgan
Mikki Howard
Levert
Keith Sweat
Johnny Kemp

There are others I don't like but I can't think of them right now. Since I don't like them I can't pull any of their records to refer to because I don't own them.

To finish covering the spectrum though:

Any of the balladeers that came out in the late 1980s.
Any of the midtempo rap artists that came out in the late 1980s.

That pretty much covers it.

lol I love mascara on a man. That's what I loved about the 1980s the best was the outrageousness and androgony. You notice my list of people I don't like are all pretty tame and "normal" looking as well as sounding. lol

Baby, "Broken Wings" was my sh*t. They get props for that alone.

Poison and all that hair metal sh*t
REO Speedwagon
etc.

I notice some people have Boston on their list, although I agree, they only released one album in the '80s.

In some cases there are certain songs that I like as so-called "guilty pleasures" from some of these artists, but when that's the case I don't like it well enough to spend my money on it. And I'm sure I'm forgetting 5,000 more performers who I've subconsciously repressed from memory.

Survivor
Sting
The Hooters
Toto
Madonna
Dexy's Midnight Runners
Quarterflash
Journey
Stacey Q.
Cheap Trick
Rush
REO Speedwagon
Air Supply
Rick Astley
Tone Loc
Michael Bolton
John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band
Milli Vanilli
Roxette
Chicago (their sellout decade)
Richard Marx
Belinda Carlisle
The Bangles
Whitney Houston
Nu Shoes
Brian Adams
Starship
Oran Juice Jones
The Outfield
Europe
Georgia Satellites
Billy Vera and the Beaters
A-Ha
Jack Wagner
Appolonia 6
Paula Abdul
Sheena Easton
Juice Newton
Bonnie Tyler
Atlantic Starr
Midnight Starr
Wham!
Juice Newton
Billy Joel
Al B. Sure
Kid N Play
Asia
Bobby Brown
Bad English
Ready For The World
Eddie Money
Bobby McFerrin
Styx
Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Keith Sweat
Night Ranger
Huey Lewis and the News
Berlin
Big Country
Toto
Flock of Seagulls
38 Special
Escape Club
Taylor Dayne
Twisted Sister
Ratt
Bon Jovi
Warrant
Krokus
Winger
Quiet Riot
White Lion
Poison
Damn Yankees
Poison
Whitesnake

And any other waste of space hair metal bands.

I hated almost every band in the 80's and I was scouring the airwaves for a lifeline. Unfortunately, I had no access to punk or alternative rock beyond MTV at that time. So my answer is I hated everybody, especially those flash-in-the pan New Wave bands and people like Phil Collins.

A few keepers were:
The Cure
Talking Heads
Pretenders
Supertramp
The Police
The Cars
Bow Wow Wow
Def Leppard
Go Go's

I loathed Toto, Foreigner, Air Supply, Duran Duran and practically everybody else

but I had crushes on Billy Squier and Cheap Trick love boxed
