"Justify My Love (The Beast Within Mix)"
[from Revelation 1:3] Blessed is he who reads aloud the words of the prophecy And blessed are those who hear And who keep what is written therein For the time is near [from Revelation 1:7] He is coming with the clouds And every eye will see him Everyone who pierced him And all the tribes of the earth will wail on account of him [from Revelation 2:1-4] Those of you who have not learned what some call the deep things of Satan I know your works, I know your toil, and your patient endurance And how you cannot hear evil men But have tested those who call themselves apostles, but are not And found them to be false I know that you are enduring patiently and bearing out for my namesake And you have not grown weary But I have this against you That you have abandoned the love you had [from Revelation 2:9-10] I know your tribulation and your poverty And the slander of those who say that they are Jews, but they are not They are a synagogue of Satan Do not fear what you are about to suffer Behold the devil is about to throw you into prison Wanting, needing, waiting for you to justify my love Hoping, praying for you to justify my love [from Revelation 13:1-10] And I saw a beast rising out of the sea with ten horns and seven heads And a blasphemous name upon its head And the beast that I saw was like a leopard Its feet were like a bear's And its mouth was like a lion's mouth And to it the dragon gave his power, and his throne, and great authority One of his heads had a mortal wound But it seemed to have a mortal wound that was healed And the whole earth followed the beast with wonder Men worshipped the dragon for he had given his authority to the beast And they worshipped the beast saying "Who is like the beast and who can fight against the beast?" And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words And it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months It opened its mouth to utter blasphemous words against God It was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer And authority was given it over every tribe And a people and tongue and nation And all who dwell on earth could worship it in vain If anyone has an ear let him hear If anyone is to be taken captive, into captivity he will go If anyone who slays with the sword, with the sword Wanting, needing, waiting for you to justify my love Hoping [from Revelation 21:1-8] Then, I saw a new heaven and a new earth And I heard a great voice from the throne saying: "Behold the dwelling of God is with men He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people And God himself will be with them He will wipe away every tear from their eyes And death shall be no more Neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore For these things will have passed away To the thirsty I will give water without price From the fountain of the water of life He who conquers shall have this heritage And I will be his God and he shall be my son But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted As for the murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolators, and all liars Their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone." [from Revelation 22:10-13] And he said to me, he said to me: "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy, for the time is near Let the evildoers still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy And the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy Behold, I am coming soon I am the alpha and the omega The first and the last The beginning and the end." Amen What are you gonna do?

I love Justify My Love (The Beast Within). In fact, I love that whole maxi-single. It's one of my favorites of hers (along with the Bedtime Story remixes). I remember around the time of Ray of Light Madonna saying she'd never worked with William Orbit before, and it always confused me. He did a remix of Justify My Love on that same single.

She was correct in sayin she had never worked with, but he had done several remixes that were commisned by her label. The WO remix of Erotica using the Erotic lyrics rocks too. The Beast Within is unfucking real. love it... not sure why it happened but it is great. was watching some public access show and they were reading from the book of revelations and i just kept saying to myself they really should have looked into getting Madonna to record the whole book and come up with better visual than a blue screen wtih white block letters. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

Yeah, I understand that. But if I'm remembering correctly, she said she hadn't even heard of him really before they worked together on Ray of Light. I can't recall where I read/saw that information though.

Since we're talking versions-if you haven't heard it there's an early Marilyn Manson cover demo version of "Justify My Love" years before his first album that's worth hearing for the laughter factor alone.

She opens the concert with the "Beast within" cut.
It's amazing, she sort of gets the crowd anticipating while she's quoting "the beast within" and everyone is on the edge of there seats. And when she finishes and the opening of "Vogue" starts to play everyone flys out of their seats. She's genius in the sence she knows how to work a crowd's buttons.

Justify is a great song because of Ingrid Chavez...don't forget she wrote it. There is a whole sorted tale behind that. Suppossedly Lenny was having an affair with Ingrid which was one of the reasons of his breakup to Lisa Bonet....This is "Hearsay" of course. Non-Linear Reality

love it! i wish she had more remixes like this..... complete re-imagining of songs, where she lays down a completely different lyric/vocal. "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

From what im hearing of the concert it is not a live instrumentation concert. SOunds like much of it is played back instrumental This is my main complaint with the tour, although i do believe much of it is "rec-reated" by the musicians she has on stage, so much of it is programmed it wouldnt matter half the time if there was no band. On her Girlie show tour she had a killer band who reinvented her songs with a funky edge, i would kill to have heard this on this tour. Of course because her music is so electronic based now, it is somewhat appropriate to have a load of programmers up there, but what I wouldnt have given for a proper guitar bass line, or a decent drummer. She employs her friends as musicians now rather than the best session musicians out there, and i think thats perhaps the only mistake on this tour. Visually its stunning, Madonna is at the top of her game both vocally, dancing and image wise - its the real deal, but she's lacking that killer back up. (however i have to say there's a bit in The Beast Within where they play some beautiful synth strings which combined with the images on screen made my heart skip a beat) I love it when the song ends with "behold, I am coming soon" and she then emerges from the stage.....excellent.

it isn't "hearsay" ... it's a matter of court record. but actually, it's Ingrid Chavez's borderline junior-high school girl diary poetry that brings it down. it is resurrected in the delivery.... "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

Don't forget Public Enemy! How could you? They won't let anyone forget it. They made a living off of sampling without giving credit then they threw a fit when the same thing happened to them. I really like PE, but this always annoyed me.

BEAST WITHIN has always been one of my faves.
And the way it's used on the tour to open the show... BE STILL MY HEART. BEYOND FUCKING BRILLIANT. Oh yeah -- fuck Lenny, fuck Ingrid, fuck PE. That song is NOTHING without Madonna. She MADE the song, it's HERS. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista
