Wait a minute, wasn't a lot of the Dangerous tour mimed? If so, wtf is the point of a "live" disc?
Anyway, this is a tremendously disappointing (for me) tracklisting. I wonder who hasn't bought 95% of these tracks a thousand times before? Anyone, anyone? A few demo versions and unreleased tracks don't really do it for me. They didn't raid the vaults for this one. They could have devoted at least a disc to each, made a really nice set. this sounds almost interesting.
box sets like this need to be all unreleased stuff/alternate versions/demos/rarities or nothing. hits + album tracks + rarities + alternates + outtakes..... those never satisfy anyone. "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

Cosign... But I'll probably buy it any way because I like box sets.

Shake Your Body (early Demo) ** Sunset Driver ** PYT (Demo version) ** Scared Of The Moon ** We Are The World (Demo) ** We Are Here To Change The World ** Cheater ** Dangerous (Original Version) ** Monkey Business ** Who Is It (HIS Mix) ** Someone Put Your Hand Out (edited) ** Fall Again ** In The Back ** Beautiful Girl ** The Way You Love Me ** ok so thank you to whoever put stars beside the unreleased material. but looking at that list (even though it is one disc's worth) i'm not convinced i want to buy it.

Any chance he'll ever put out some NEW music...? "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

I liked the old unofficial tracklist much better. It was full of rare, unreleased, new and demo versions. not the greatest hits

this boxset is being released so he can get the hell out of sony. I'm both happy and sad at the same time about the tracklist. This set will be quite expensive and wont sell much probably. And he's more important things to worry about than going to studio.. But I'm at the same felling pissed we aint getting unreleased and rare tracks like Xscape, Monkey Bussiness etc.

[This message was edited Fri Aug 13 21:11:18 2004 by VoicesCarry] It's a DVD. It will be MJ's first ever official release of a live concert. About 40% of the Dangerous tour was lip synched by the time he got to Bucharest. As MJ's first box set I think it's not too bad. I'll basically take any "new" MJ songs I can get my hands on. There's still plenty of time left to clean out the vaults. I'm intersted to hear the original version of P.Y.T before Quincy and James re-wrote it. It will also be intersting to hear a MJ solo version of We Are The World. Plus the new tracks sound pretty cool. We are getting at least one unreleased cut from all of his Epic solo albums. I'm not sure if it's official though (hoping it's not: a remix of Who Is It, his best song ever, damn ). Announcing a box set for an artist like MJ just 3 weeks in advance is something not even Sony would do. It needs the proper promotion (or at least a bit of promotion among the fans). with that "who is it (HIS mix)" bullshit they probably mean his performance on oprah. you know, with the beatboxing and all. that was pretty cool. it might even mean mike did a demo that way. would be amazing to hear that imo. but this boxset will only make me do one thing: DOWNLOAD (and only the interesting bits..) don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
purple music does the same to my brain i'm high, so high

I'm wondering about the first seven tracks on disc one. Are these versions he's re-recorded as an adult, i can't see Motown letting Sony put the originals on it. i'm a bit confused by that. i'll definately buy it though, it's a lot more appealing than #1's. BTW, i saw Billie Jean was voted the greatest #1 ever the other day in a VH1 poll. Rightly so IMO.

Im disappointed MJ keeps releasing pointless crap.
The last thing he released was a DVD called "The One" which was his "Number Ones" TV special, clocking at 40 minutes or less. Before that he released his Number Ones which was the 18 track cd and 15 video DVD. Most of the stuff on those packages were already released. I don't understand why he did that when he already released HIStory cd and dvd. And now a boxed set! If i bought this, which i probably won't unless i get it for a gift, i would have exactly 5 copies of "Billie Jean" on offical MJ released cds. Now Billie Jean is an awesome song but i don't to have it shoved down my throat through this boxed set, and that includes all his other classics. And by the way unless my eyes are deceiving me i didn't see smooth criminal. I understand that MJ wants to ditch Sony but this is not the way. I would rather have a cd full of half assed new material by MJ and maybe a second disc full of the unreleased songs than this. The onely thing that really interests me is the DVD, i never seen MJ live. And that's another thing, if he wants to make money why not release discs of his concerts on DVD?

I'm also glad to see that the already released, but hard to get track "On The Line" will make an apperance on the set. I've always dug that song.
Being an MJ fan i'm also looking forward to the extensive booklet that will go along with the set, but that probably won't get you guys too excited

Given all the already existing Greatest Hits this is a bit of a bummer, but if they would tell me compile a 4disc box spanning his career with some 10 rare songs + some 10 never before released songs, this would come close.
It's chronological, so that's a yay! It's the first live concert that's officially released so that's also a yay!, 2 bad they didn't select a better / less known one. It's got the Wiz stuff on it, was the ever before released on cd? Sure it would've been nice to have some more live-versions or alternate versions of songs. Sure some more new songs would've been nice but 4 post 1998-songs + an unknown song of every other album + We Are The World (was this ever on cd before?) + ... This box got many things for casual listeners as well as die-hard fans imho. It's a difficult balance to strike, and they may have difficulties selling it, but i kinda like it. This is ok...but I probably wont buy this for the same reason I didnt buy "the ones"
I have these songs alreadyon 2000 other cd collections and I want to hear some new stuff. "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

What the hell r sony thinking? He just released a greatest hits last year and another bloody Jacksons one this year.....sony or Michael or both r seriously taking the piss and y this box set stuff? Y not just 1 new album of unreleased stuff and promote it like a new album and then many people will buy it!
Also the live dvd is bull too....most die hards still have their bucharest concerts from when it was on TV many years ago.....and guess what? Y not the "Bad" or "victory" concerts! They look miles better anyway? Plus this dvd should be seperate aswell..... Seperate a cd albums worth of unreleased stuff Seperate the live dvd and replace it with the "Bad" or "Victory" tour Much more money would be made plus easier to advertise (even a single coulda been released) but instead more stupid greatest hits.....sony is shit and they stuffed up "History" in 1995 too by making us pay 4 shit the whole world already had! This is very, very dissapointing.Michael allegedly has 100's of unreleased stuff.....oh yeah, and wheres that Jacksons album that has seriously been about 7 years in the making?

To be honest, i'm positioning myself so that sony can f*ck me right away. I don't care what this is. He should open up something like his own music club. If he wants 'On the line' released, put it online. Five discs... its a damn joke. I think we can expect 28 % unreleased material! BlueNote
