Kylie Minogue I got Kylie's new album "Fever" a few weeks ago, and it has me hooked! However, that is the first album of hers I own. I'm interested to know what those of you who know her better think I should get next?

Hey Moonbeam...
I bought one of her albums from about 1997... It has a less pop/disco feel to it compared to the Fever album.. but it definitely is a pretty sexy album... It's self titled I think, the first song is "Too Far" ... you might remember the main single from the album called "Breathe" I don't think this album was that popular commercially... but it has that hypnotic intoxicating feel to it, like an intense seduction session It has moments of a trip hop kind of sound... I don't know, try it out, you might like it, I at least did/do. It's pretty smoooooth --»You're my favourite moment, you're my Saturday...

Hi Moonbeam! Try the song "Put Yourself In My Place", or "Confide In Me". Those songs are on the album "Kylie Minogue" from 1994.

Jsut so u all know, Prince was rumored to have a fling with Kylie circa 93-94 while he was touring in Europe. Had seceral interviews from around then when Kylie would talk, she would talk about him. Silence Speaks A Thousand Words.

Prince also wrote 2 songs for Kylie. 1 was called 'Sex On Legs' (I forget what the other 1 was called). Unfortunately they have never been released. At first it was merely rumour that these 2 songs existed, but Kylie herself confirmed their existance a couple of years ago. She also mentioned that the reason she hadn't released them was that they were 'private'.
Kylie album discography: Kylie (cheesy bubblegum pop, includes 'I Should Be So Lucky') Enjoy Yourself (more cheesy bubblegum pop) The Rhythm Of Life (dance-pop, includes 'Better The Devil You Know' & 'Shocked') Kylie Minogue (1st album after getting total artistic control, includes 'Confide In Me' & 'Put Yourself In My Place') Impossible Princess (also called 'Kylie Minogue' in most territories) (Underrated more experimental album, still rooted in dance music, with a hint of indie. Includes 'Breathe' & 'Some Kind Of Bliss') Light Years (return to pop mainstream, has sevearal collaborations with Robbie Williams. Includes 'Spinning Around' & 'Kids') Fever (current album, only recently released in the US, with less 'provocative' cover. Includes 'Cant Get You Out Of My Head' & 'In Your Eyes')

I would say her best album to get is the 1997 "Kylie Minogue" album.Although her least succesful ever, it's her most artistic. It includes "Did It Again" and "Breathe" probably the two finest tunes she has ever recorder. Also check out the video for "Did It Again".It's one of the best videos of the '90s.
If you like pure pop though the best way to get it and to get to know Kylie's earlier work in full is to get the 1992 "Greatest Hits" compilation. It includes all her first 19 UK hits (including 13 Top 5 hits) and it's still the best pop album I ever heard.Besides that, if you buy this there is no need bothering buying any of her first four studio albums.

Thanks for the help guys! I think "Impossible Princess" will be my next buy! I tend to like the experimental stuff.

Also, for some reason the reissues of her PWL albums currently available look like badly photocopied bootlegs,(I've no idea why) though I'm sure the sound quality's fine.

Kylie is a total babe and just like a fine wine she gets better with age!
I remember back in May '94 at the party at Jimmyz in Monte Carlo after the World Music Awards she was with Prince and when they got on the dance floor my friend had to pull me outta the way cos I was so stunned by the gorgeous Kylie babe

Shouldn't this be on Kylie's fan page? This is about Prince and associated artist? Do tell! If it breaks when it bends, U better not put it in!

Moonbeam: I agree - the album is totally hot! Did you see her on Saturday Night Live last week too? She was great and came complete with new wave dancers. Who'd of thunk little Kylie Minogue from bubblegum pop some 15 years ago would ever strike it rick again on both sides of the Atlantic?!?! Granted this may not be Prince news, her disc has been the best thing in the CD player since the arrival of TRC. I'm glad I'm not the only Prince fan who's found enjoyment in Ms. Minogue!

Kylie is great! It's a shame that she hasn't been a huge act in the USA until now - but bloody good luck to her! Saw here in concert last year and she is one SEXY woman with a great voice.

Minogue is awful. Jumping on any bandwagon that will have her. For once she got lucky..her vocals are appalling and shes got zero sex appeal. Cmon its Charlene from Neighbours!

Thanks for the replies all! Today I picked up her 1994 album "Kylie Minogue." Haven't been able to find "Impossible Princess" yet. You all have been helpful!

Hi y'all. Firstly, get your facts right. Kylie Minogue is Australian NOT British. Kylie's first single was a remake of the locomotion in 1988. Yes, her best album and Tour, was "impossible Princess" (1997) check out "Did it Again", "some kind of Bliss" "Breathe".
Kylie and Prince hooked up for a couple of tracks when he toured here in Sydney in 1992, on the D&P tour. He recorded in 101 studios, as well as other places. No, I doubt they ever got it on. Also, check out her last album, "Light Years". The single "spinning around" is a great pop tune. Also, "kids" with Robbie Williams is pretty good. "I have a date with Lisa. Isn't that wonderful?"

Confide In Me is one of the most stunning and under-rated songs of the 1990s - download or buy as soon as possible!!! Along the lines of Unfinished Sympathy and Back To Life - luscious strings as I remember...

years and years ago, when kylie was just in her first flush as pop star and still very much associated with charlene from "neighbours", the uk mag "smash hits" asked her what her favourite prince song was and she said "private joy"- which i always thought was a cool and totally unexpected answer. so she can't be *all* bad...

if you're looking for a different side of kylie minogue, you should check out her duet with nick cave (of nick cave & the bad seeds)... it's on nick cave's "murder ballads" and "the best of nick cave & the bad seeds"... it's probably the single creepest song i've ever heard in my life, and kylie's vocals are as ethereal as cave's are spooky... that's quite a compliment, considering that i can't think of anyone with a spookier voice than nick cave...
anyway, it's a great, great song... Mr. Ellis Dee-licious, the Official NPGigolo

i didn't know that prince had worked with kylie in the past, but it makes perfect sense in a sheena easton sort of way.
i can see prince producing her and getting her to the next level. she's definitely got a kinky side. so if prince is only interested in politics in his own music, maybe he can get kinky again for someone else. kisses are like tears. the only real ones are the ones you can't hold back.

It's spooky and haunting, although the paring of Nick Cave and P.J.Harvey on the song HenryLee found Nick Cave meeting his match. "black hair, brown eyes...late September...My Beautiful Leah"
