Which One Is Better? Parliament's Motor Booty Affair Or Funkadelic's One Nation Under A Groove?

I think both of them are essential and funked up, but my personal favorite has to be Motor Booty Affair!!! I mean it's aqua-funk~funk underwater. Aqua Boogie, One Of Those Funky Things, Deep, and Rumpofsteelskin are the best songs on there. Funkadelic's One Nation Under A Groove is good, but there are just 2 songs I like on that album. Who Says A Funk Band Can't Play Rock? and the title track are essential. I also heard that the Motor Booty Affair tour was better than the ONUAG tour. Dang I wish I was born then.... So which albums are your favorites because Motor Booty Affair is more interesting than One Nation Under A Groove (ONUAG).

Funkadelic.

But then, I always loved the Funkadelic albums more than Parliament anyway.

Ah this isn't really fair as they are both terrific but i would have to go for Funkadelic's one nation under a groove basically because they were a rock band really doing funk and it just sounded really twisted.

Yeah, I think that Funkadelic was moving 2 far into pop and disco when they released One Nation Under A Groove. The production is 2 glossy and and it's not that funky like MBA. All I can say is that it is one of Funkadelic's most finest moment ever. One Nation Under A Groove is not my favorite P-funk record though, but it does have a great message in it. If there's one Funkadelic record you will ever need, it'll have 2 be this one or Electric Spanking of War Babies.

Both are great albums, and I like them both for different reasons. If someone put a gun up to my head, I would chose Motor Booty Affair.

Motor Booty Affair.

Other than the title track, I think One Nation is one of my least favorite Funkadelic albums.

Actually my One Nation cd has a live version of Maggot Brain that's great, but I don't know if it's on the real album or if it's an extra song just for the cd.

Actually, MBA is not my favorite Parliament album either. Were they from the same year?

sence Im forced to choose I have to go with MBA, I am a proud owner of the vinly with all the original pop up characters still in tact! This album was meant to be the soundtrack to a live action/animated film... so deep.....

Wait a minute

The bonus 7'' of One Nation has a live version of Maggot Brain as performed by Michael Hamptom, I can't choose, for the love of God I cant

Two sides of the same coin, really. At this point in their career , there was little difference in the style of jams used for either Parliament Lps or Funkadelic ones.

I'll concede that "Motor Booty" is more consistant as a concept album, but I dont think it's better than "One Nation". I'd rate them equally.

That's funny. A good PFunk gig has songs from both Parliament and Funkadelic albums.

Yeah, that song "Motor Booty Affair" is a jam. But what about Bootsy's 1977 classic~ Ahh...The Name Is Bootsy, Baby! That's probably my 3rd favorite P-funk album.

Mothership Connection, MBA, Ahh...The Name Is Bootsy, The Bootsy Collins Anthology, and The Best Of Bootsy are the only P-funk cds I have in my ever-growing CD collection. I used 2 have ONUAG on compact disc, but I listened 2 it dozens and dozens of times, that it got scratched and worn out. I mean some of the songs on there didn't excite me that much, especially the 3 last ones. That's right, it was too glossy and there was too much disco. I never considered ONUAG to be one of my favorite P-funk albums. Many hardcore P-funk fans say that it's a landmark and it gave a powerful message. Hey, I'm not a big P-funk fan at all, but I will always stick with Parliament's MBA and Mothership Connection & Bootsy's 1977 album, Ahh...The Name Is Bootsy Baby! because they rock. But, don't get me wrong, ONUAG does have good tracks on there like Who Says A Funk Band Can't Play Rock and the most-popular title track. I kept playing those 2 like crazy, and that's why my CD got messed-up. One Nation Under A Groove is Funkadelic's greatest moment, though.
