Man In the Mirror MJ Movie

I just finished watching the VH1 "original movie" Man In The Mirror: the michael jackson story... and i was disappointed. it was not well scripted... nothing flowed together... the parts of michael's life that were unclear or the producer's were not sure of you could tell they were made up and filled in. The acting i thought was bad, not even ok. The actor also did not look like Michael at all. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of the program was the fact that no time was spent on Michael's music, his tours, the records he broke, the phenomonom of the 80's. The whole movie was based on his personal life and egocentricities... truly disappointing. If I'm the only one who cares about this or noticed it i'll be quiet...afterall im only 16. However i do kno that despite what this man has done and whether he did it or not... he's the biggest superstar of the 80's and a film on the mans life should include why he was such a huge star and the carreer thats taken him to today.

You are 16 yrs old and a Prince fan? WOW! Just wondering...do U care if Prince uses profanity @ his concerts?

Anyway, I watched it also...very poor production and avg. acting @ best, but still held your interest. The Jackson Family: American Dream - the movie Jermaine Jackson produced, was much better. You could tell - that VH1 is on Mike's side...the movie portrays him as a victim...which is what I think. The man gave so much of his heart...and was so naive thinking that no one would hurt him because he's Micheal Jackson. But then again..that's the whole point, he's living in a fantasy world.

yea im a prince fan i saw him in June this year and it was incredible... no i guess i wouldnt care if he used profanity but if he used it like a rapper and it became obnoxious and repetitive then it would get annoying. tahnks for theinput on the movie yea your right vh1 is siding w/ MJ. i choose not to take a side till i hear the facts. but i hope he innoncent cause he is a wonderful caring person

Was that movie supposed to be a drama or a comedy? It was freakin' ridiculous. I should have known that it was going to be wack because it was a VH1 'Movies That Rock" feature and most of those movies suck, whether they produce it or not.

LOL Wouldn't it be great if WHitney, Micheal, and Prince could all be on top of the charts...the way it used to be? I don't know, it was just a thought. hmmm

Joe Jackson was portrayed perfectly, but he wore glasses later on...remember, they dropped the ball on that I guess, LOL.

Yeah, they just said...let's find a pretty girl,

Producer: hey U over there
Girl that played Janet: Me
Producer: yeah U
Girl that played Janet: but I don't have any acting experience
Producer: that's ok, your cute so U will do, hey lose the high heels, Janet is short
Girl that played Janet: OK, I'll just smile each time the camera is on me and people won't notice how inexperienced an actress I am. LOL

The latter (his eccentricities and legal problems) have already, in the eyes of many, overshadowed his commercial and artistic accomplishments. confused

Oh My! was that awful!!! wow! I mean I dont think even hardcore fans would think that was good or true. 99% of it was wrong. It seemed like a fan,MJ, or his lawyer made that movie to explain everything with a slant. The problem was none of it was true! I think the only decent part was the guy playing Michael! He had his voice down pretty well and did a ok job even though he had nothing to work with.

eek wow what was that!

NO fan would ever get the simplest of timeline facts totally and utterly wrong. Nor would they portray him as this whimpering little shit obsessed with "believing in Neverland". Made-up characters that don't exist in real life, visions of Diana Ross? It's like an episode of Sunset Beach, only not as classy.

sucked big time. if i didnt know MJ, i wouldnt know he was a musician. nothing about his music.

it was a comedy.Even I would write a better story line. And how come they'd do a 1 and a half hour movie of an artist who's in the bussiness for 40 years.

It would be much better if they did just a part of his life

complete dissapointment disbelief

I'm sorry but American Dream wasn't all that great either...I mean, the scenes with them as little boys being the jackson 5 were cool....but the acting sucked and I'm sorry....Angela Bassett's portrayal of Katherine Jackson was way off the mark...she was NOT that strong.

Anyway, back to the Man in the MIrror movie

I agree with Musicology because one thing that was TOTALLY unnecessary (and STUPID) was tying in the Sept 11 attack footage. What the HELL does that have to do with Michael Jackson? NOTHING.

The movie was very cheaply thrown together. The worst part of the movie was the concert scenes. What's up with that? They couldn't get permission to play the songs or what...?

I laughed through the entire flick . . . mostly at the actors chosen to play Liz, Lisa Marie, Diana, Janet (aka Tinkerbell lol ), Joe, then there was the shots of Michael's dancing during tours, too funny, and Michael's "childlike" lines "I like your eyes" "Lizzzzz, come get your tea!"

I know this may not be totally related to the subject, but I have been a big Michael Jackson AND Prince fan for over 20 years. I have been a member of fan clubs for both. One thing I can say is that I enjoy being part of a Prince club better, because his fans are far more sophisticated and don't have a problem criticizing him for something that he might do that they don't like, or saying that they don't like a particular song, album, etc. Most Michael fans I have encountered are out of touch with reality, and will never say anything bad about him no matter what he does, and no matter how bad an album or song is he might release.
