All these and does his work with The Faces' count?

If so, add Ooh La La. music

I have to say, even though it's sort of cheesy and anthemic, I quite like The Rhythm of my Heart.

Maggie May is one of my favourites.

But my all time favourite, and I'm surprised nobody's mentioned it yet as one of theirs yet, is Mandolin Wind.

(useless trivia for today - John Peel played the mandolin on Maggie May and Mandolin Wind).
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

my fav too -

Don't know much of his work, besides the hits. I definitely don't like what he's evolved into, but to each his own, I suppose.

I bet that most of you don't remember this song, but it is my favorite song by Rod Stewart. It's called "Baby Jane" and it's from 1983.The video was all over MTV,but I don't think the song ever became a big hit. When I mention it to people, they never seem to know what I'm talking about, lol. It's a really cool midtempo pop/rock track with a wonderful chorus.

Baby Jane (1983)

(written by Stewart and Davis)

Baby Jane don't leave me hanging on the line
I knew you when you had no one to talk to
Now you're moving in high society
don't forget I know secrets about you
I used to think you were on my side
but now I'm no longer sure
I wish I knew what I know now before

(chorus)
When I give my heart again
i know it's gonna last forever
No one tell me where or when
I know it's gonna last forever

Baby Jane don't it make you feel sad
just when i thought that we were winning
You and I were so close in every way
don't time fly when you're loving and laughing
I've said goodbye so many times
the situation ain't all that new
Optimism's my best defense
I'll get through without you

(chorus)
When I give my heart again
I know it's gonna last forever
No one tell me where or when
I know it's gonna last forever
I won't be that dumb again
I know it's gotta last forever
When I fall in love again
I know it's gonna last forever

Baby Jane I've said all I want to say
go your own way don't think twice about me
Cause I've got ideas and plans of my own
so long darlin' I'll miss you, believe me
the lesson learned was so hard to swallow
but I know that I'll survive
I'm gonna take a good look at myself and cry

(chorus)
When I give my heart again
I know it's gonna last forever
No one tell me where or when
I know it's gonna last forever
When I fall in love next time
I know it's gonna last forever
I won't be that dumb again
I know it'll last forever

Yeah right! I wish I was young enough not to remember this song! I think it was actually 1984 because I always remember Baby Jane and When Doves Cry being played incessantly throughout that summer. Good song, but probably not a favourite with many people either because it's one of his more poppy ones, or else (like me) people are sick to death of it. I swear I used to hear it at least 10 times every day that summer. Ah, memories!

Glad you mentioned this one! I was trying to think of it. I hear it on the Sinatra Style station at radio@netscape. I kinda thought it was a woman the first time I heard it.

As much as I (casually) dig a few of his songs from the '70s ("Infatuation," "Passion," "Young Turks"), it's the Rod Stewart from the Every Picture Tells A Story album that sounds vastly more interesting. After that album his music completely changed.
