Bob Marley's "Natural Mystic" Appreciation Thread.

worship

This is my favorite Bob Marley and the Wailers cd. "Iron Lion Zion" deserves a thread by itself....it's always on repeat. And it's been stuck in my head all day long.....which is a good thing. biggrin

I have "Iron Lion Zion", but it's on a different CD: One Love: The Very Best of Bob Marley & The Wailers. It was released through Tuff Gong in 2001 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Bob's death, and it has since been discontinued.

If I am not mistaken, there are a number of tracks on the CD that I have that also appear on Natural Mystic.

I don't have that one. There are a lot of compilation cds out though. So a lot of the same songs end up on more than one cd. "Sun Is Shining" is on that one too. That's another one of my fav. songs. thumbs up!

The thing with Bob Marley is that when you hear his songs too often they become boring

shocked eek eek Marley boring?! NEVER! lol That could be any artist though, if you play their songs over and over and over. I guess you just have to be in the right mood for his stuff. But overall he's one of those artist that you can't really hate, or it's hard to hate him.

Yes but Natural Mystic and Legend are compilation albums aren't they? I seriously recommend digging a bit deeper and checking out both Exodus and Catch a fire

A lot of those compilation have a lot of dross on them to be honest. A way of making money of Marley's name. Yeah, definetly get the albums for those wanting to check out the Wailers' music. I haven't heard Natural Mystic AnckSuNamun, thanks for the tip.

But yeah, after looking up the tracks on this release, somebody knew what they were doing when they compiled this cd! There's not a weak track on here, I can apprecitate that! thumbs up!

Yeah, I like the Natural Mystic track listing. I thought it was a strong collection too when I first checked it out in my local wrecka stow...

For the sake of discussion, I will include the tracklisting for One Love, the greatest hits compilation released a few years ago through Tuff Gong/Island:

"Stir It Up"
"Get Up, Stand Up"
"I Shot The Sheriff"
"Lively Up Yourself"
"No Woman, No Cry (Live)"
"Roots, Rock, Reggae"
"Exodus"
"Jamming"
"Waiting In Vain"
"Three Little Birds"
"Turn Your Lights Down Low"
"One Love/People Get Ready"
"Is This Love"
"Sun Is Shining"
"So Much Trouble In The World"
"Could You Be Loved"
"Redemption Song (Band Version)"
"Buffalo Soldier"
"Iron Lion Zion"
"I Know A Place" (previously unreleased track produced by the original Upsetter, Lee "Scratch" Perry)

Niiice! Looks like the kind of compilation that you'd make for someone getting into Bob's music. A lot of his classic, but less well known, songs on there: 'War', 'Africa Unite', 'Time Will Tell', etc...

I'd recommend the 'Songs of Freedom' box set too though. I think it's about $30-40 though, which is a pain - but you can sometimes pick it up cheaper. It goes right through his career and shows just how much quality stuff the man recorded, and has good biographical info about him and his music too.

Musically soulful, lyrically passionate! Man, you just gotta love Bob!
