ReeseStrongnight said: agreed. jamiroquai is even better LIVE. if they ever tour stateside, i would tell people who DO like them to RUN for tickets. the band will not disappoint. the energy level of their shows is amazing. i'm an old school black chick who loves her funk, and those boys kept me UP and outta my seat for two hours non-stop. danced till my feet hurt and i was funky from sweat. great great show. if i could invent a funk-o-meter with a scale of 1-10, those lil' boys would hit a straight up 8.5 for live performance. even if they don't compare to legends of old like Stevie and P., at least the young-ins do try to give you your money's worth for those 2 hours. and a tip for the girls who go to the show; don't be silly like i was and wear heels trying to be cute- you will need comfy shoes with good traction to make it easier to shake your groove thang! This old-school black dude appreciates your post and he will heed your advice. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

whodknee said: I like their stuff. It doesn't catch on here though because it's not innovative and they aren't "cool". Jamiroquai is like the neo-soul folks. It's nice to hear the old sounds from time to time but the kids aren't gonna dig it because it sounds like their parents' music.
I think that their record label (Sony) just doesn't know how to market a band like Jamiroquai.Leader Jay Kay complained that their 1999 album 'Synchronized' wasn't marketed as an R&B album, which is essentially what it was.(Jay even mentioned that he wanted Busta Rhymes to remix the song "SuperSonic",which could have expanded their audience). The same thing happened with 'A Funk Odyssey' in 2001.A killer album that Sony didn't know what to do with.I think that, first and foremost, their music should be aimed at the clubs.Songs like "Love Foolosophy" and "Feels Good" are club-ready jams just begging to be remixed and properly promoted to club DJs.It would also help if maybe Jamiroquai could tour more in the U.S.,and maybe collaborate with American artists. | |
