Grey Boy Allstars & Karl Denson Love this band and just ordered some of Karls' solo stuff.
Great drum sound, jazz/funk vibe all day long. Medeski, Martin and Wood have a some things in common with the jazz/funk angle but they go into outer space with their jams. Here's a few questions for the kick-ass music people of the Org. What do you guys think about this band? Ever seen them live (the live cd is awesome)? Any other bands doing this type of thing that you know of?

Chillax bro. Maybe some decaf.
Greyboy All-Stars were part of the jamband thing. Never saw them live, the cuts i've heard were cool. Not together anymore (I don't think) hence Karl Denson's solo stuff. The other bands that I currently checkout in that genre are Soulive and Aquarium Rescue Unit. You'll dig Eric Krasno and Jimmy Herring on guitar in their respective bands. Soulive you can easily catch live at some point. ARU's players do many things outside the band so a live experience might be a challenge. You aaight? tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I have 2 Greyboy lps, 1 Greyboy allstars and 1 Karl Denson ('D is for Diesel'), if there is more of his solo stuff let me know please, there's other stuff like the Groove Collective, Soullive, 1st Greyboy is a must have, Malka Family from France, Groove Theory, Mondo Grosso and UFO both from Japan. Of you may or may not like some of them but they are all worth a listen, by the way some of them are not together anymore but you shoul still be able to find cds

I guess the frustration on the second post was because we are on a Prince web site (not a fill-in-the-blank-here website) and funk should be ACKNOWLEDGED! Sorry, I just have a passion for music and more importantly FUNK and yes, maybe not drinking coffee anymore would help
