KISS/The Make Up Years/Top 10 albums

I can go on forever about my boys KISS. Ace Frehley was my first guitar hero. (I was 9 and later got into Hendrix when I was 11.) In my bedroom, I literally had my walls covered with KISS posters and pictures. Anyway, anyone here digs KISS. The 70's version. The o.g. line up.
Anyway, my top 10 KISS albums from the original line up are as follows:

Destroyer
Rock n Roll Over
Kiss
Hotter Than Hell
Kiss Alive
Love Gun
Dressed To Kill
Kiss Alive 2
Ace Frehley solo album
Dynasty
SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

Kiss Alive 2
Double Platinum
Hotter than Hell
Rock and Roll Over
Dynasty

How about top Kiss toys?
I had the Destroyer board game, Model touring van, Colorforms, Lunchbox, Halloween Masks of Gene and Ace and a whole lot of Kiss trading cards.

What can I say, they marketed to us young kids!

Holy crap! Kiss fans in the org? Yippee! I still think that the first six studio albums are insanely underrated. Gene and Paul, and to a lesser degree Ace, don't get anywhere near the credit they deserve as songwriters.

I've always been meaning to get into Kiss, but so far I haven't got any of their albums. (I know a few of their songs though, of course)

Where should I start?

Their first album has great songs on it. Songs that they still play to this day. I see u dig Jimmy Page. So do I. He was a wizard in his time.

Yeah, I am a bit of a Jimmy Page fanatic. lol I had him in my last avatar, but it was so small most people didn't recognize him.

I'll have to check out the first Kiss album though. nod

Those songs sound best on 'Alive'.

I'm sorta a Kiss fan since my very first album of my own was Destroyer. I may have been the only nine year old black kid wearing an Ace Frehley iron-on patch on my t-shirt ( at least the only one in my school ). I wanted the first issues dolls way back when, but my parents passed on buying them for me. Once rap & hip hop came through, Afrika Bambatta, Kurtis Blow, Grandmaster Flash, etc... I found a new thrill and out went Kiss. I have seen them in concert and got the face paint to party along with the crowd, so there is still a soft spot for them in my heart.

p.s.... anyone have a Gene Simmons doll form the Todd McFarlane series back in 96? Of course he stands on the K stand, nd it would complete my colletction of that series. Preferably it still in its package, unopened.

wow, a "black guitarist" on the prince forums who is big into kiss (the other important nyc band, after the ramones)
we got a lot in common
...been rockin' "destroyer" (on vinyl, no less) for 'bout a week now...
posture your mandables towards the sky
and oscilate them in an apathetic manner

throw your hands in the air and wave 'em like you just don't care

I know for a fact that I was the only Bro. on my block rockin the Ace Frehley mask(complete with hair) after halloween. Man, I had many a one man concert in my room back in the days! It was fun being a Kiss fan! I can still smell that hard ass gum that came with the trading cards.

Favorites:

Alive2
Double Platinum
Hotter than Hell
Unmasked (I liked the pop stuff too, especially Shandi)
Dynasty
Ace's solo

p.s
Firehouse is the shit!!

Yeah, for trick or treat, I would always go as Peter Criss. As a kid, he was my fave for some reason. Alltime fave KISS song is "Great Expectations" and second is 'Goin Blind".

Yep, very cool. I met Gene back in 94 at The Troubadour in Los Angeles. We talked for like 15 minutes. Very cool and funny man.

Huge fan here -- just saw them on August 3 (sans Ace & Peter), with Eric Singer on drums and Tommy Thayer on guitar.

It was a great show, there wasn't an empty seat to be found, and as long as Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons are out front, KISS will always be KISS. What Paul Stanley does night after night on stage at his age is truly remarkable.

Top 10 Albums (Makeup years, regardless of lineup):

Alive! - 1975
Destroyer - 1976
KISS - 1974
Creatures Of The Night - 1982
Dressed To Kill - 1975
Alive II - 1977
The Elder - 1981
Hotter Than Hell - 1974
Love Gun - 1977
Rock N Roll Over - 1976

Other Recommended Albums:

Revenge - 1992
Paul Stanley - 1978
Ace Frehley - 1978
Lick It Up - 1983
Animalize - 1984
Hot In THe Shade - 1989
Unplugged - 1996
Carnival of Souls - 1997

Ah....KISS! My first concert. 11 years old. Couldn't hear for days. Ace blew his guitar up with lasers and electrocuted himself in the process. I got my first contact high from pot. Don't forget the Gene Simmons solo album. I thought this was the best solo album. "Living in Sin" (at the Holiday Inn!) and "When You Wish Upon a Star" How diverse can you get? Did anyone catch Paul Stanley at opening night of Musicology in L.A.? Black Diamond! Kiss Alive is my favorite. Dynasty was cool too.
