Sigur Ros

Wow what an amazing band this is...
they released three albums this far:
Von

Agaetis Byrjun

and

( )

this music is just so emotional and beautiful... it's just sonic soundscapes that touches your mood...
the singer sings in a made up language that is called hopelandic... wow
the band are from Iceland (Like Bjork)

I really dig Sigur Ros. Even more so after seeing them perform live a few times. I will admit, the description of the band sounds pretty pretensious, but their talent and creativity, IMO overcomes this.

You'll find a few of us around here are fans- not many- but there a few!

I don't own any albums, but I love what I've heard. Beautiful.

But I do get frustrated that I can't understand what the words are. mad

I know you are all about the lyrics, but to me, one of the most powerful things about this band is their ability to express emotions without using 'words.'

PS- their videos are AMAZING!

Great Band. I only have their first album "()" and I've seen them live.

They're a mood type thing though, if I'm not in the right mood I just can't listen.

i have two of their three albums, plus a soundtrack they collaborated on with an icelandic composer (wish i could remember the title...i'll dig it out if nobody knows what i'm talking about). i also have the GORGEOUS CD single with the DVD of all their videos...if you like sigur ros and don't have this, do seek it out (it's got a picture of a gas mask on the cover)...it's not that expensive and it's a MUST for your music/video collections. nod

I have that also Anxiety ~ very expansive and lush Icelandic sounds but I can't remember the title either. It has a white and pink/tan cover. Sigur Ros are one of my favourite bands and on my list of have to see live. There is no one else performing the way they do. I have heard that on stage they play the guitar with a violin bow to create their unique icy sound. Just incredible!

We saw them at Glastonbury last summer, it was getting chilly as it began to get dark out and we pulled up a spot of grass in the field and it started to mist rain a bit. It was wonderfully, wonderfully pretty.
