Shalamar vs. Shalamar Which is your favorite Shalamar, the original or the replacement? The original group consisted of Howard Hewitt, Jeffery Daniels, and Jody Watley. Jeffery and Jody left the group and were replaced by Mikki Free and a lady who's name I don't know.

Um, that's not the "original" Shalamar.
The original Shalamar consisted of Gary Mumford, Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniels. Howard Hewett was actually the THIRD vocalist in Shalamar, but was by far the best and most popular. http://www.facebook.com/p...111?ref=ts

If anybody I RESENT the most(or at all) from the Shalamar crew it would def be that corny big-headed nigga Mr.Howard Hewitt.

That "lady" (for vainandy) was Delisa Davis who was teamed with Micki Free (that "fine chick") and Howard Hewett (Heartbreak). That was followed by Sidney Justin replacing the exiting Howard Hewett (Circumstantial Evidence, Wake Up).

Uptown Festival was released on Soul Train the pre cursor to Solar..that label included Shalamar, Carrie Lucas, The soul train Gang,i believe the Whispers didnt record for Soul Train cus they were still with Janus when they got signed to Solar in 78,, | |

I learned to moonwalk from watching Shalamar kicking "Right Dead In the Socket" on Soul Train... YEARS before I saw MJ doing it. I would do that at teen discos (yeah yeah shut up) and ALWAYS got mo drawers.

Mickey Free was the most pathetic Prince wanna-be if I ever saw one. I remember during the 'Circumstatial Evidence' era ('87) he was calling thier single "Games" as their 'Sign O The Times'. He even wore a hoop earing and a decorated denim jacket just like P circa SOTT.
Delisa Davis was a good vocalist. She ended up singing backup for many other late 80's divas (Pebbles, Paula Abdul, Karyn White). Every minute of last night is on my face today.... | |

I wish somebody had a video link of Daniels doing the "moonwalk". I would love to see it. Jeffrey Daniels is the most underrated dancers ever. I remember seeing one of the Electric Boogloo Locker do it in a circle, not straight like MJ. MJ always stated that he never invented it, everybody (Black folks) knows that the "moonwalk(gliding your feet sideways)" and the "backslide/the Glide (aka moonwalk, illusion of going backwards and forward at the same time) " lockin, poppin, boogloo has been around for a long time, and was invented in the SF Bay Area in the 60s, long before it made its way down So Cal. | |

The one and only Shalamar is Hewett, Watley, and Daniels, although I loved Circumstansial Evidence during the Free days.
BTW, my mother and Gary Mumford dated when they were teens in Birmingham. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin. | |
