Old School - Latimore (Let's Straighten It Out) Benny Latimore was part of Henry Stone's Miami based TK Records crew: Betty Wright George & Gwen McCrae Little Beaver Foxy Bobby Caldwell KC & The Sunshine Band Let's Straighten It Out ('74) and subsequent recordings, showed Latimore to be an original soul man and multi-keyboardist. (melodica, piano, organ, electric piano, clavinet & synthesizers) Other Latimore cuts: Stormy Monday Keep The Home Fire Burnin' Somethin' 'Bout 'Cha Sweet Vibrations (grooves like Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get) There's A Red-Neck In The Soul Band To the best of my knowledge he's still around having played on the Josh Stone "Soul Sessions" release. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm [This message was edited Mon Aug 9 16:23:10 2004 by theAudience] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Living in the home of Malaco Records.....they wear those songs out down here. But I can say I do like Lattimore, Z.Z. Hill, and Denise LaSalle.
I can remember blues back in the day when it all didn't sound alike. Nowadays, all of it is starting to sound alike these days. I think a lot of them have the same producers. I remember also liking blues from Bobby Rush ("Sue") and J. Blackfoot ("Taxi"). Does anyone remember a funk jam J. Blackfoot did in the late 1980s called "U Turn". Now, that was a JAM! Like I said, down here they TOTALLY wear the blues out. The people that don't listen to blues, listen to rap. Andy is a four letter word. | |
