Are you a Partridge Family or a Brady Bunch?

The Brady Bunch didn't start off musical, but after the Jackson Five became so popular, the producer and writers of the show had the kids become musical i.e. a singing group. For me, I always dug The Partridge Family the best. They were a real band! (smile) They had their own tour bus! Played their own instruments! (smile) Danny was killing on the bass! They wore groovy ass outfits! Keith would try to take off on his Hendrix loving guitar solo with the wah wah in the garage. Funny, he never did that bit during one of their gigs! Anyway, I always had a crush on Shirley Jones. Plus, they had Richard Pryor on the show playing a black militant! You can't beat that! I remember seeing some pictures of the Jackson Five and The Brady Bunch together shaking hands on some studio lot. This was from 71 or 72. Also, from the same period in a teen magazine, they had articles of Marcia and Michael's "Love Affair" and how Marcia (the girl who played Marcia) and Michael would always talk on the phone for hours.
Even though I pick The Partridge Family hands down, The Brady Bunch episode when Peter's voice started to change whenever he would try to sing was some of the funniest shit I have ever seen. To this day, that shit is funny. VHI is starting a "new" Partridge Family. I think they should leave it alone. It's not going to be better than the o.g., so come up with your own thing and stop trying to recreate something that's not going to fly with today's audience who doesn't give a fuck about The Partridge Family anyways. Like P said to Wendy and Lisa in Purple Rain "I mean, can't you just leave it alone?"
SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

Neither. Because, I would say that non of these shows delt with my reality and were too phony and full of doody. Eventhough I can't stand neither of the shows, I will say that the Patridge Family had better music.

Oh, it was fantasy all the way. And remember, they were capitalizing on the heat the J5 was bringing as well.

Well, I can't say that I ever even watched The Partridge Family, so I'll have to go with The Brady Bunch.

WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!

Both shows raised the bar on cornballishness, albeit in different ways. I side with Bonaduce's wack ass. The Partridge Family had a band, that gets my respect, if nothing else. biggrin

Positively Partridge.
(We probably would have been scufflin' over Shirley back in the day.)

Did you know that after she wasn't Mrs. Jack Cassidy anymore,
she married a Brooklyn born comedian by the name of Marty Ingles?

Ingles starred in '60s sitcom called I'm Dickens, He's Fenster.
Ingles played the "little black book carrying" single guy Fenster.
The married Dickens was played by John Astin (Gomez Addams).

I thought both shows were corny as hell but I liked The Brady Bunch better. I used to watch it, and still do, just to laugh at how corny their asses are. They are so damn corny it is hilarious.

Yes, u know I know about Shirley getting remarried, player. Check it out, when I was 10, my mom and I went to KTTV Studios in Hollywood to get tickets for the comedy show "Carter Country" and Shirley was there for some benifit, and I asked for her autograph. She gave it to me and then I had to wait to get my pen back because she started signing for other folks. Whe she finished, she gave the pen back to me, piched my cheeck and said "You're a doll." Honest truth. I think we would have been squabbin' player! (smile)

UptownDeb

The Partridge Family gets the musical edge. A friend had the PF's greatest hits CD in his car. At first it seemed a little hokey, but then we were all singing "I think I love you, so what am I so afraid of..."[i] biggrin Didn't Nice & Smooth sample the intro to that song in "Hip Hop Junkies?" Anybody sampling the Brady Bunch?

All in all, I was more of a BB watcher. I like the Johnny Bravo episode. Basically, what it came down to was a simple truth: Greg "fit the suit." Heck, who needs talent if you've got the look? neutral
