RONALD ISLEY SUFFERS STROKE Mr. Biggs stricken in London.
A source at Def Jam Records has confirmed that Ronald Isley suffered what is being described as a “minor stroke” Friday in London. The 63-year-old veteran of the sibling group, the Isley Bros., was in the UK for a show when he became ill while walking down a London street with his wife. The Cincinnati-born singer was hospitalized at a medical facility in the city. Upon hearing the news, Isley’s ex-wife, singer Angela Winbush, caught a flight to London to be by his side. "Pedro offers you his protection."

And he's not even very old either. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Very sad. I hope he recovers quickly and that his amazing falsetto will be in working order in no time.

I don't mean to dispute your word but I have searched the internet for this news and I can't find anything.
The Isley Brothers, Keith Sweat, Klymaxx, and some local blues artists are scheduled for a concert in my city tomorrow evening. I called the coliseum just now and they said the concert is still on and they haven't heard anything from promoter about this news. If this is true that he had a stroke last Friday, the promoter would have to call the venues and cancel all the upcoming concerts. I'm from the South and he is scheduled here tomorrow evening. Why would he be around the world a week before the concert? I could be wrong but we will know the truth tomorrow night. Andy is a four letter word.

No announcement if any cancellations or changes in the show. I read the link but I still don't believe it. The radio is advertising the concert hot and heavy. The coliseum has no knowledge of this. Of course they are not going to say anything until they are sure but this is the day before the concert. Sure enough, the promoter may not have told them yet but that would be bad business on his part and would damage his reputation. Promoters are taking a gamble when they bring a show and if he ruins his reputation, venues will ban him from coming back. If that show were to cancel that day of the show, it would be chaos for the venue turning people away and telling angry people that don't understand to go back to the place they purchased their ticket to get a refund. I still don't believe it. Andy is a four letter word.

I saw the concert at one of the casinos in February. I had been drinking all night so I was waiting for them to play a new song so I could go to the restroom. Hey, the new songs come in handy for at least one thing. Andy is a four letter word.

I still don't believe it. Being it was news overseas...we (in Jackson, MS) probably wont get solid confirmation til tomorrow on the day of the show. The promoters are either looking for a quick replacement or will let the show go on without Isleys or cancel the whole thing. Who wants to pay $43-45 to see Keith Sweat as a headliner??? Not I. Listen to Tom Joyner's morning show or read eurweb.com, Clarion Ledger, VH1 by tomorrow (Friday)...or check with Bebop records. We should hear something by tomorrow about the show. I try not to take it so personal. But because the man's music has been such an influence on me I cringe at the fact that he let R. Kelly, of all people influence him into that cheap ass gimmick. I see folks rant and rave about Prince's music and image not being the same. However, there's a huge difference between spiritual mentoring from Larry Graham and a 63 year old balladeer being transformed into a laughable blaxploitation character by the likes of a 35 year old pedophile. How would you accept Lady Day if she became a Li'l Kim protege? [This message was edited Thu Aug 5 11:26:35 2004 by psykosoul]

Ron being associated with Robert doesn't make him a protegee or take anything from him cuz he already got his career and besides a brotha got to eat & pay the bills and you shouldn't get mad at that cuz if you haven't noticed,,,he's in his 60's and folks at his age are somewhere sitting at home feeling like shit 4 themselves. I may don't like his new sound but one thing 4 sure I don't live his life nor his struggle, he might as well do the damn thing to the full. Who are we to judge the brotha? How would you accept Lady Day if she became a Li'l Kim protege?

You don't see Eric Clapton or Paul McCartney having to dress up in freakin' capes to try to get respect from younger audiences... Obviously, No disrespect Ronald, but I've talked to lots of young and old Isley Brothers fans, and none of them particularly like this "Mr Big" stuff ---he's been doing it for more than eight years now , younger people know it's just a front, and older fans just shake their heads... I'm not judging whether he gets in to heaven or hell behind Mr. Biggs. But as a consumer, I can be the one to judge the music. Hell, we all got bills to pay etc., etc. but when the same man who wrote Voyage to Atlantis and Highways of My Life starts singing about "nobody callin' but homies and bill collectors" and ghetto shit, I'm gonna call the bullshit like I see it. Like paligap said, Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney don't do that shit. Ron is just as worthy if not more worthy to be in the same circle with them. I hate when we do that shit to ourselves. BTW, I'm not cursing at you ... it's just that the whole situation truly pisses me off. I do hope he makes a full recovery physically and musically.

You don't have to justify yourself, boo lol I understand yo frustration. Personaly, even tho I resent his new music, I can however tolerate that he's getting a praise at a time where NOTHING out there in the radio/tv can be stomached.

I just checked with the ticket outlet and they told me that the Isley Brothers are scheduled in Shreveport, LA tonight. They also told me that Ronald Isley has been giving interviews to Shreveport radio stations all morning.
I checked the Ticket Master web site and it has the Isley Brothers listed in Shreveport tonight. I wanted to see if a show was scheduled on August 4 (the date of the supposed stroke in London) but Ticket Master only had listings for the present and future. I think this pretty much puts an end to this rumor. Andy is a four letter word.

I'm a longtime Isley fan, grew up on their music. Ronald is one of my favorite male vocalists. My prayers are with him for a complete recovery. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
