ooh, i got tipping point...it's my first roots album and i'm not sure what to make of it. i like it. the first song creeps me out, i think in a good way. not sure if i'm crazy about the rapping style (oh, flame away), but the music around it is pretty freakin' fantastic.

Hopefully that new Madonna- AL remix cd comes out, if not Ill just add to my P collection.

Can someone help me, P has a DVD with music videos but when im on amazon, everyone gives it a poor rating, so should i buy it or not, tks!

"The Essential Isley Brothers" came out today. I havent listened to it yet, but this "Essential" series is incredible so I expect it to be great.

I went on a spending spree this past weekend - I actually picked most of these up on July 31, but I'll share them with you anyway...


Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance - classic post-punk record. The band is considered a forefather of industrial rock, though I don't quite hear it - there are electronic noises peppered throughout the record, but mostly the lp is Can style anti-rock with tighter song-structure. It's not quite as good as their follow-up album (title escapes me), but still very, very good.

Joe Ely - 20th Century Masters collection - most of the 20th century masters releases are pretty lame, but this one is a keeper. Good song selection and excellent sound quality.

Beulah - Yoko - Typical Beulah record in that it's half genius and half forgettable. Me and Jesus Don't Talk Anymore is one of the more addictive songs I've heard lately despite the cringe-inducing title.

Ladybug Transistor - self-titled - very good rootsy music that sounds like a cross between the Band and Stereolab with Lee Hazelwood on vocals.

David Byrne/Brian Eno - My Life in the Bush of Ghosts - found it cheap, so I picked it up. Musically very similar to Remain in Light (I believe it was recorded concurrently, or maybe immediately after that album).

The Fall - 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong - I own practically everything on here...why did I bother buying it? In retrospect, this was a pretty dopey purchase.

Stooges - First album - found it cheap - I've heard all the songs a million times, but I've somehow managed to never own this album until now.

This title wasn't on my list, but I walked into the local indie music store in my hood and they happened to be playing it. As I listened while shopping this track came on, as listened closer and I could hear that he had mix the groove for Don't Stop The Music by Yabrough and People with Trans Europe Express by Kraftwerk after I came to this realization I ran to the counter and asked who was playing.....and there you go. The rest of the tracks are pretty much mediocure electronica, but that one track makes it worth it all.

This is a pseudenom that Matthew Herbert Records under. Everything I've purchased by this Cat has been ill! I wasn't disappointed with this title either, though I do miss that one girl he usually collaborates with on this relase.

I bought this after hearing samples and kinda because I was drawing a blank at the wrecka stow like I usually do, but I had to leave with some new stuff. I still haven't thrown it into the player yet to give an opinion on it.



Other than those 3 titles, I've pretty much been listening to Rhapsody. I'm hook! ANd they have so much stuff on there, that I find it hard to buy any more cd's unless it's something important and crucial to the collection or they don't have it in their database.

Something old that I don't have yet. These days, I very seldom go into the record store knowing what I want until I browse for a while.

Heard Ricky Fante on Jay Leno a little more than a week ago.

Awesome. His voice is so rough, passionate, and expressive. It rattled me to my soul.


So, I'll definitely get him this week.

Plus, some old Tracy Chapman (heard fast car on the radio the other day. Can't get it out of my head).

I know the album itself is not brand new, but I recently bought Everything But The Girl's Amplified Heart cd. A close friend recorded Massive Attack's track "Protection" featuring Tracey Thorn for me, and I fell in love with her voice.

"Troubled Mind" is a lovely little track....

Kittie - Until The End

I'm going to their show tonight and wanted to hear the latest CD beforehand so I bought it yesterday. I was very impressed. There's more singing and stronger melodies than their last album, Oracle. Their sound is still very heavy, but much more listenable.

If opening act Candiria impresses me enough, I'll pick up one of their CDs at the show. I was always curious about their fusion of hardcore and jazz.

Talking Book hangs together better as an album but there are more genuine highlights on SITKoL. In my opinion, anyway.
