believe it or not, i HATE it when these kinds of previews pop up, because the more i indulge in them, the less excited i am when the real deal pops up on the wrecka stow shelves...as appreciative as i am that these sneak peeks pop up, i'm gonna try to sit on my hands till i got the sucker in my hand (though i DID fall off the wagon a coupla weeks ago and listen to a download of one of the forthcoming bjorky treats...i'm not made of STEEL, after all).

I actually don't like it either...but for different reasons. I am more protective of the artist and their work than anything. And would HATE it if leaks postponed the album.
Mind you I like hearing stuff beforehand...it really depends on the source. SOmetimes I have heard previews that have turned me off and made me wait to get a disk. But I am one who likes to buy stuff without hearing any of it. Usually on the day of it's release. If I had heard snippets of Bjork lasst one, I probably would have waited a while to get it...or until someone tied me down and made me listen to it a few times until I got it. At least with getting it and not hearing anything, I have it...it's there for me to listen to. Cuz not owning Vespertine and Being a Bjork fan...is not a good thing. What was it that got me into it...Oh yes I was in a chill room and someone played Cocoon and this one girl shrieked got up and swooned. I totally did a retake and went home and listened to Vespertine non-stop. Christian Zombie Vampires

I'm waiting too. It's so close, that I can hold out. One good aspect to the preview of "Triumph" is this. When I found out that Medulla was going to be an entirely vocal affair, I was really put off by the idea as I'm not crazy about a capella. I need my instruments! But leave to Bjork to make it fascinating. I really like the 1 song I've heard so far so it's actually made me more excited for the album in this case.

from amazon....
Medulla, Bjork's first new studio album in three years, finds her delving deeper than ever before into her haunting and exhilarating sound and vision. Innovative as always, Bjork has this time built the songs on Medulla entirely from vocal tracks, with no instruments appearnig on the album, creating a soundscape unlike anything you've ever heard before. Special guests include Rahzel from The Roots, Mike Patton of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, an Inuit throat singer, an Icelandic choir, the world's greatest human beatboxes and more. + collaborators . beats - Rahzel, Shlomo and Dokaka . vocals - Bj örk, Mike Patton, Robert Wyatt, Gregory Purnhagen, Tagaq, Icelandic + London choirs . songwriters - Bj örk, Sj ón, Olivier Alary, Tagaq, J órunn Vidar & Jakob ína Sigurdard óttir, E.E. Cummings . programming - Valgeir Sigursson, Mark Bell, Little Miss Specta, Matmos, Jake Davies, Olivier Alary, Bj örk + facts . a limited edition of "Med úlla" will have expanded artwork and a 16-panel poster. . the Japanese release will feature a bonus track. . Öll Birtan means 'All the light', V ökur ómeans 'Vigil'. . Sonnets / Unrealities XI is based on a poem by E.E. Cummings personally, i was hoping for more of a return to her past stuff and away from the experimental, but alas she goes even deeper than I thought. What next an album of spoons clapping away. I'm sure it'd sell well and everyone would eat it up with a ....well a spoon! LOL. Actually, I am only half kidding. I love her to bits. I am just wondering what the breaking point is for her fans. Maybe there is none. Maybe she can keep on getting wierder and still make it enjoyable. I have heard she has some top producers in to help her with this album. It's when the pops, clicks, burps hiccups and yelps no longer become fun to listen to and more of a chore.... Christian Zombie Vampires

I'm reading all these posts, nodding my head like "yeah, I'm going to wait to listen to it all new and fresh. But I just broke down and downloaded the song. Amazing. It's very erie and now I'm more excited to hear how she pulls it off. Will a full album of music like this be toooo much? It sounds like electronic music still, but with a more organic and tribal vibe, lots going on. Wow. She's using the choirs like the strings in Homogenic.

Yeah, it's all vocals -- beatboxes, backing vocals, humming, etc. If anyone can pull it off, it's Bjork. *waits for release date*

Björk will also perform a new song called Oceania at the opening ceremony of the 2004 olympics next week. WHAT IF THERE IS NO TOMORROW? THERE WASN'T ONE TODAY!
