nine inch nails-still The other halos always get their well-deserved recognition, but to me still is very underrated.
Granted this is a companion to AATCHB, but aside from the reworkings of familiar songs (done quite well mind you), there is really some stand out work by Trent on here: the instrumentals. "Leaving Hope" for example especially. Beautiful song. Still is the perfect rainy day disc, listened to with headphones. So relaxing, and I think adds a great side to him as an artist. Another level a casual listener might not see, aside from tracks like "The Great Below" on The Fragile. I love the albums, of course, but sometimes you're just in the mood for something like this. Anyone else like the fact it's less widely released, but still wish more people were aware of it?

Oh yeah, I love Still. One of those albums that's perfect to relax with.
Highlights for me are the versions of The Becoming & Something I Can Never Have. So much emotion, especially in the latter. Sounds like Trent's in the same room. It's nice that it's sort of obscure among the other NIN albums.

this is an excellent disc - it should have gotten more attention, but i'm kinda glad it didn't.

It's nice that it's sort of obscure among the other NIN albums. I love those versions. So organic-I love that they were recorded live in the studio. You're right-there's tons of emotion in there. I think I might even like that version of Something I Can Never Have more than the Pretty Hate Machine version. Trent does sound like he's in the same room-another reason this is one of my favorite discs. It really does feel like you're there. That in the room intimacy on it really makes for an amazing experience.

Trent's mentioned via the nin.com access section more recently answering a question that Still will probably be available again after the legal troubles with John Malm get straightened out. Mixed feelings on that one-I'd love for more people to hear it, but you're right-it's nice that it didn't. Makes it that much more special. Valuable as well. Also-thanks for mentioning gemm.com on another thread-I checked it out and already have bought several things already. Found a really great independent store based in New York called New World Record. I'm gonna be broke, but I'll be happy! CD addict edit.
