Jill Scott: "GOLDEN"

Just saw the video on VH1 Soul. I'm REALLY looking forward to the new album but I'm surprised they picked this as the first single. I'm not too impressed w/ the song, and she's notorious for videos that are kinda dull so it was no surprise this one pretty much is too. It's nicely shot though, & better than the one in the gallery where the pics come to life though whofarted

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has seen/heard the single & likes it. I love Jill! I'm still buying the album!! biggrin
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

I quite like Golden, although Jill becomes more and more repetitive with time. I heard four or five other tracks from her upcoming release (at www.hiddenbeach.com) and it isn't anything spectacular, it doesn't usher into new musical world. My reaction to her debut was sort of the same; I remember that I had to listen to the album a couple of times to really feel it. Listening to Jill demands devotion and patience as her lyrics are most probably the most important bit of her art. Her voice is nothing but common, the production is sleek but just sleek. She is a mystery to me. She's just got that something. She is a paradox.

But I can still remember crying my eyes out while listening to He Loves Me.

I love Jill but Golden does nothing for me, either but I will camp outside the record store for her new album. This year has been a vast wasteland in the music industry.

i disagree with those of you that don't like the release. i think it is a good first release. keep in mind that the song has a purpose, a design, which is to let everyone know that jill si back, and it has to be radio-friendly piece as well.
