Willie Wonka And The Chocalate Factory Anybody here digs the songs in this movie? Anybody digs this movie? One of my favorite all time movies, the songs in this movie are excellent. 4 star. The songs were written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse. "The Candy Man" is probably the most well known song from the movie, larely due to the fact that the late great Sammy Davis Jr had a #1 hit with it a year later in 1972. The other songs "I Want It Now", "I've Got A Golden Ticket", "Cheer Up Charlie", "Oompa Loompa Doompadee Doo" and my favorite "Pure Imagination" were perfect songs for a perfect movie. Man, it seems the older I get, the more I love this movie and the songs. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I also like Mariah's ghetto-ass take on this song featuring Krayzie Bone and Da Brat.

I'm kinda conflicted here -- while I've always loved the songs, especially " Pure Imagination", I've never been a big fan of the movie itself-- ? " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

I adore this movie. I worship Gene Wilder. I love the quite sophisticated undercurrent of commentary about modern culture, morality, consumerism, the media, and class issues vs. the idealism of childhood that Wonka himself embodies. The cowboy kid gets stuck inside a TV for god sakes. I also like the part when the oompah loompahs sing and the words pop up on the screen.

It'd be cool to know what happened to all the featured folks in this movie. We all know Gene Wilder went on to have a solid movie career afterward, but where in the bloody hell is VERUCA SALT?? I wanna know NOWWWWW!!!! This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I could ramble for hous on why this movie is so frickin funny. I love it, I own the DVD, it simply is the best.
VERUCA: No, I want one of those! MR. SALT: Wonka, how much do you want for the golden goose? WONKA: They're not for sale. MR. SALT: Name your price. WONKA: She can't have one. VERUCA: Who says I can't? MR. SALT: The man with the funny hat. Kirk: "KHAAANNNN! KHAAANNNN!"

I love the scene when that snotty girl eats the snazzberries and then she inflates and turns into this blue blob. So funny. Also, love the scene with the old man and that little boy in the Fizzy Lifting tank. I always craved a chocolate bar after watching that film. Great movie.

I love this movies since I was a kid. i remember seeing it at the local library with my sisters since they were showing it for free. Yes the OOmpa Lumpas creeped me out.One of my favorite scenes was when they were in the tunnel & Gene Wilder was doing his weird rant & Violet said "What is this, a FREAKOUT?!" A great movie I can still remember whole lines from. Not too enthused about the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka remake , but we'll see I guess. That tunnel scene is a trip where images of snakes and bugs appear on the walls.

I still find that scene completely mesmerizing! Definitely one of my favourite movies of all time. My kids love it too. Completely timeless. Distance is to love, as a breeze is to a flame…
