Don’t have a cow, man, but Simpson’s all over #1 this week.

That’s Ashlee Simpson, of course, whose debut album, Autobiography (Geffen) is a huge, over the top, undeniable runaway of a smash hit for the younger of the MTV-driven sisters. The album is set to rule the chart this week, based on sales approaching 400k, according to the sales tally still in progress.

It's amazing the time and energy and money I invest into the researching and purchase of music to enhance the quality of my collection, and I have absolutely no fucking clue at all who the fuck Ashlee Simpson is, or why we care about her, or what talent she has that makes 400,000 people buy her album, unless this is one of those Clive Davis buy-back schemes designed to generate publicity.

It's Jessica Simpson's lame younger sis. A sad day indeed.

MTV exposure or not, the apparent success of this album really shocks me. I saw the first episode of this show and was ashamed of myself.

What's the big commotion about? She did have heavy MTV exposure. And it's not as if the average music fan is concerned with quality. Don't worry by her third album she'll be finished.

The biggest offense is that the Simple- I mean Simpson sisters are so game to play up the dumb factor. What happened to feminism? Sexy is one thing. Dumb as a post is unforgivable.

Lest you all forget, Ashlee's music is rock. Jessica's is poop, er, pop. She wants you to know that their styles are different and that she's a rock performer (even though she's never performed with a band before).

There is a distinction between the two; they're two separate people. One just looks like a tranny, the other actually is a tranny.

The thing that really makes me cringe about her is that she claims her influences as Debbie Harry and Chrisse Hynde and says that she is nothing like Hilary Duff and isn't pop....but she sounds like a watered down Hilary Duff to me! At this point, I'm just happy it isn't Usher...or last week's...Jimmy Buffet?
