i saw this band about 2 years ago in philly at "the church" (or whatever it is officially called...the one in west philly near Penn's campus) on a $7 bill that included the faint and the rapture! fun times! anyway, back to the present, i just popped into my local wrecka stow and saw this album sitting around. i bought it not remembering anything about the music other than the fact that i'd seen them live and enjoyed it. there's also a !!! connetion (which is a kick i've been on the past few days) but that's niether here nor there. getting back on point, yet again, this instrumental album may be the best wrecka i've bought in a loooong time! elements of new order, early duran duran, zooropa/passengers era U2, a little reminiscent of some brian eno stuff yet it has a personality all its own. an all around great record with very distinct flavor. the band is called out hud and the album is titled 'street dad'. cello and violin add subtle textures to the sounds and the synth and drum programming, along with live drums, bass, acoustic and electric guitar make for great listening!

go buy this!

There's some interesting stuff on there, even though I was decieved by a review calling it funk.

But yeah, I dig the synth sounds on there. I'll have to investigate and see what other bands they're in.

No, I don't own their music, nor have I seen them live. I've heard some tracks, but they were OK. It's not really THAT funky, bt still danceable and fun. I do like !!! better though.

i think i dig !!! more only because i can sing along. outhud is a very specific kinda mood. rather than funky, i think of them more as a throwback to the best 80's acts...new order, duran duran...mixed with lots of new technique.
