MARIAH'S NEW SINGLE "STAY THE NIGHT" feat Kanye West!!!!!!

The first single from Mariah's upcoming album will apparently be "Stay The Night" featuring Kanye West. This news comes from Rob Wagman, Top 40/Mainstream director at All Access, the radio and record industry's leading information guide.

I believe this track uses a sample of Evelyn Kings "Last Dance" and is in the same style of Kanye's track with Alicia keys "U don't know my name"

the track hits radio in September, until then look out for a video of Mariah's calaboration with Jadakiss" U make me wanna" his new single from his album

.

Mariah just doesn't get it, does she?

I think she failed beginner's math:

Mariah + rapper collabo + slutty outfits does not EQUAL "hit" anymore. They invented a new formula, but she forgot to buy new books.

I've not yet heard the song, but this is exactly why NONE of her songs are classics. She's not worried about making good music; she's worried about making a hit, so she's works with the producer of the moment to give her the sound of the moment. The damn thing might be popular, but it'll end up collectin' dust on shelves in less than a year.

I know, exactly. I'm honestly about to give up on her....for good. I'm tired of defending her and I was hoping her next single was somewhat of her original form. To be honest, I kinda gave up on her with Glitter and Charmbracelet. sad

Damn, can she or any of the other r&b/pop female singers release a single without a rap collabo. This shit is getting ridiculous. Can't she see that the shit that she has been doing since 1997 isn't working. I can only image what juvenile title she will give her album...Trinket Box, Dangling Earrings, Dreamstar, Sparkle.. mad

I'm not defending her, but you guys have got to realise that record companies can force artists into doing this sort of stuff. Even well established artists. And they will reject an album or single until you get it the way THEY want it. I'm not saying it's the case here, but who knows?

Why wait to hear what it will sound like? Kanye is good, and I like his solo CD, but Mariah is trapped in the " Trendy & now " sound. If Timbaland & Missy, The Neptunes, Jay Z, Eminem and anybody who's still burning now shows up on her album, Go ahead and count her out. She is still a fine woman, but everybody has moved on to the newest " Fine Shakin' ASS ".

So true. This sort of thing happened to Alana Davis, which is primarily the reason she went indie and founded her own label, Tigress Records. Elektra, her former label, wanted to "sex-up" Alana's music and image. She kept tugging with the powers that be. They wanted her to be an MTV artist. She wanted to follow her own path. They encouraged her to record tracks with "hot-at-the-moment" producers like the Neptunes. She recorded "Bye, Bye" just to shut them up. Eventually, she got fed up, gave them the finger and did her own thing.

At this point, I couldn't give a rotten bum's feet if she even worked with RaPaul in her 1st single.

As long as the REST of the album is cool then fine with me(despite Glitter/Charmbracelet's 1st singles/and others, the core of these albums are actualy good).

Plus, I'm rubbing my hands in excitment just to hear her work with that jazz band led by Claire Fisher. I like this direction she's taking(ala Subtle Invitation).

Rap collabs used to be cool back in late 80's early 90's.....u remember, "the rap in the middle of the song" thing like janet did with Heavy d on "Alright"! Now it's different, gotta have the rapper all over the intro hollering and biggin' up the artist to the 9's and u have to hear them ad-libbing shit in the background of all the verses-it's overkill.....

Oh well, thank goodness Ja rule fucked off.....all that murder inc shit was the worst.....

I couldn't agree more. The formula is very stale and making hip hop look very embrassing to the point were pop artists (Britney, Chirstina, etc.) are sounding creative. That's pretty fucking bad!

rolleyes Great.Just what we need...another R&B song that is based on a sample of an Old School track.

But,aren't you referring to Donna Summer's song "Last Dance"? I never knew of an Evelyn King song by that title.

How the hell can you make "Last Dance" sound like "You Don't Know My Name" (or in the case of old school, New Ingredient's "Let Me Prove My Love"?).
