This weekend I went to the Hollywood Bowl for the first time ever.

I saw Rufus Wainwright and k.d. lang. They both performed with the L.A. Philharmonic. It was truly a beautiful night.

I've seen Rufus twice before, and seeing him with an orchestra, instead of a band, was a special treat. Those 7 of you who have actually listened to Rufus can imagine how appropriate an orchestra is to his sound. And seeing him all dapper in a black suit was nice, too. He was full of self-deprecating AND extremely boastful comments.

And then there was k.d. Wow. I've always had a passing interest in her work, without being a huge fan. I don't think I realized how beautiful her voice is. I was hooked from the first note to last.

And the Bowl... Oh my. My new favorite venue. Sitting under the stars, particularly under a full moon. What a treat!!!!
