YOU MEAN DISCO DIED IN THE SEVENTIES?
Hmm... Anyway, other than Le Chic and the above mentioned songs there really isn't much else I really dig. Songs like Carwash, Funkytown, Play That Funky Music, and Boogie Oogie Oogie are all much of muchness to me. TheRealFiness said: papaa said: HERE'S MY OWN

A little disco trivia for ya...
***In 1976,Diana Ross scored a huge summer hit with the excellent "Love Hangover".It went straight to Number One on the charts. But she was reluctant to record this song, and initially, she wasn't impressed with the whole disco movement. To make her feel more at ease during the recording session and to get her into a "disco mood",the producers made the studio look just like a disco....they added a mirrorball, flashing lights, etc.Diana felt ridiculous singing the song in this setting, and at point during the recording, she busts out laughing. And they kept that part in the song! Y'all know the part I'm talking about. ***In 1979,a singer named Patrick Hernandez scored a sizable disco hit with the relentless "Born To Be Alive".He went on a brief tour of France (where the song was extremely popular) and one of his backup singers was a then-unknown young artist named Madonna ! (hey, everybody has to start somewhere, right?). ***Donna Summer's 1977 hit "I Feel Love" actually became a hit by accident. The first single from her 'I Remember Yesterday' album was a nice ballad called "Can't We Just Sit Down (And Talk It Over)".The B-side was "I Feel Love".Radio DJs flipped the record over and played the B-side,and the rest is history. It's great that Donna enjoyed a massive hit with "I Feel Love",but it's also a shame that the original first single was ignored.Donna's vocals on that song are incredible. ***Likewise,Gloria Gaynor's late 1978 hit "I Will Survive" also became a hit by accident. It originally appeared as a B-side to her single "Substitute".Radio DJs flipped the record over and she had the biggest hit of her entire career (personally,i think "Anybody Wanna Party?" is her best song). ***By the late 70s,disco was so successful and mainstream that even non-disco artists jumped on the bandwagon. In 1979,both Elton John ('Victim Of Love') and Aretha Frankin ('La Diva') made disco albums that are best forgotten, lol.

Damn! Jumped all over my shit! So what! Maybe I listed 2 songs '81-'82. So they don't have that common "high hat hiss" that so many other disco jams do, but they sure did play them there (the disco)! Just subtract a couple bringing my list back to 10...

Risqué isn't their best album anyway. C'est Chic is. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

But I haven't had it for YEARRRS, and I don't remember much about it aside from the first two singles. Wait, I think the song "Strike Up The Band" was on their debut too. I do remember that it's not C'est Chic or Risqué, tho, but I need to buy it again. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

We probably need to clarify that when we say "disco",we are mostly referring to mid-to-late-70s (1975-79),which is the REAL disco era.Sure, there were disco records after that time period, but the golden era of disco was in the 70s. I like when rock bands made attempts at disco:
Rolling Stones - Miss You Rod Stewart - Da Ya Think I'm Sexy? Kiss - I Was Made For Loving You Queen - Another One Bites The Dust (1980 - they were a little late)

I was looking up some of the tracks mentioned here in Billboard's new Dance/Disco book and was surprised to learn that Yvonne Elliman's "If I Can't Have You" never charted on the disco charts. The three Bee Gees songs from Saturday Night Fever (Staying Alive/Night Fever/More Than A Woman) were big hits but "If I Can't Have You" was nowhere to be found in clubs according to Billboard.
