Fave top 10 Disco songs I have so many disco faves, but it's more interesting if we just limit it to 10. Plus that way, it'll give everybody a chance to list stuff without repeating the same shit. Mine are: (in no special order)
Love To Love You Baby - Donna Summer Le Freak - Chic Dancing Queen - Abba Push, Push, In The Bush - Musique Your'e A Native New Yorker - Odyssey More, More, More- Andrea True Connection Get Off - Foxy If I Can't Have You - Yvonne Elliman Star Love - Cheryl Lynn Dance (Disco Heat) Sylvester SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

A while ago, I could have named off a ton of disco favorites, but at the moment I am so sick of it. I just can't listen to it anymore. Maybe it's because so many disco classics are just played out right now. Maybe if I heard some obscure track that I haven't heard in while I could re-kindle my love of disco again.
I was actually going to start a thread about this very thing the other day. It came to mind because my husband, for some reason or other, had just gotten a hold of some disco tunes and played me (as a joke, and to drive me insane) 10 DIFFERENT VERSIONS of the Close Encounters of the Third Kind theme song that had been done in disco-style back in the 70s. Insanity!! There are a million Star Wars ones too, and god knows what other tv and/or movie songs. Damn, lemme try this. My favorites:
10. Mighty Real - Sylvester 9. Heart of Glass - Blondie 8. Night Fever - Bee Gees 7. Love to Love You Baby - Donna Summer 6. Let No Man Put Asunder - First Choice 5. More More More - Andrea True Connection 4. Le Freak - Chic 3. Love Hangover (12" mix) - Diana Ross 2. Don't Leave Me This Way - Thelma Houston My pick for the best disco record: 1. MacArthur Park Suite - Donna Summer. The whole damn 17-plus minute version. Salty good from begining to end! There are so many good ones, but those are my favorites (I think...could change in 30 minutes). The women of the genre really kept it as good as it was. There were some choice cuts by the guys, but the best were from the ladies!

Well, I have always hated disco -- especially since I was around at its onset and was always pissed off when (white) people constantly categorized all uptempo black music as disco. In any case, some guilty pleasures are:
Hot Stuff - Donna Summer To Be Real - Cheryl Lynn Fly Robin, Fly - Silver Convention Funky Town - Lipps Inc. You Should Be Dancin' - Bee Gees Miss You - Rolling Stones Don't Leave Me This Way - Thelma Houston Let's Dance - Bohannon Ladies Night - Kool & the Gang Theme From S.W.A.T. - Rhythm Heritage I think that is about the best I can come up with. I'd be perfectly happy if I never heard another disco song in my life. Peace, Scott If you've got funk, you've got style.

Get Off - Foxy
Knock On Wood - Amii Stewart Groove Line - Heatwave Disco Nights (Rock Freak) - GQ Mighty Real - Sylvester Livin' It Up - Bell and James Bad Girls - Donna Summer Shake Your Groove Thing - Peaches and Herb Funkytown - Lipps, Inc. Le Freak - Chic These are in no particular order, I just named 10 of my favorites off the top of my head. I tried to only choose one song per artist. Disco was my first love so I could just keep naming endlessly. Andy is a four letter word.

I'm waiting for a clueless person to list a mid-eighties track and say it's disco.
I'll go in the opposite direction and list the two disco songs I absolutely cannot stand: Ring My Bell - Anita Ward I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor All other disco I can tolerate, but those two are like scratching nails on a blackboard to me.
