Upcoming albums you're looking forward to

In addition to the upcoming Prince CDs,what other albums are you anxiously awaiting? Do your other favorite artists have new music on the way? Will 2002 be a great "musical" year for you? Here's what I'm looking forward to....

***Santana 'All Is One' (Release date: June)---Finally,a new Santana CD!! I've worn out my copy of 'Supernatural',so I am ready for some new music from him. Please note, this CD may be titled 'Shaman',Carlos hasn't made up his mind yet.

***Donna Summer 'Angel' (Release date: July)---Donna is back y'all, ready to make a killer comeback!! Her CD is on Sony Records, and here's a partial tracklist : "Angel","You're So Beautiful","Valley Of The Moon","Half the Battle","Not A Day","Rain On My Shoulders","Only Words","Work It".

***Earth Wind and Fire (Release date: May)---Their first album in 5 years includes the songs "I Wanna Be Loved"(with Eric Benet),"Heaven","Thank You For The Love","Whatever Happened",and "Wonderland".The first single features The Emotions and is due anyday now.It will be on Warner Bros.

***Marc Anthony 'Mended' (Release date: April 30)---He's my favorite singer nowadays!! His new CD is titled 'Mended' and is due April 30.Here's the tracklist...."Love Won't Get Any Better","She Mends Me","I've Got You","I Need You","Tragedy","I Reach For You","I Swear","Don't Tell Me It's Love","Do You Believe In Loneliness","Give Me A Reason","Believe Me This Time","Everything You Do","Me Haces Falta".

***Lauryn Hill 'Unplugged' (Release date: April or May?)---Yes,yes,yes!! This is one of the most eagerly awaited new CDs of the year.Rumor has it that it will be a 2-CD set,and the partial tracklist consists of "Adam Lives In Theory","Oh Jerusalem","War In The Mind","I Find It Hard To Say (Rebel)","Water","I Just Want You Around","Peace Of Mind","The Mystery Of Iniquity","I Get Out","I Remember","So Many Things To Say","The Conquering Lion".

***Madonna (Release date: Fall 2002)---Madonna is currently recording a new album, with producer Mirwais and a bandmember from her recent world tour. She plays guitar on most of the songs, and the new album is said to be "edgy rock with electronica elements".

Now,let's see those lists!!!smile

N*E*R*D - "In Search Of..." - out today! go get it! now! NERD is the psuedonym for The Neptunes. they went and got a band (spymob) and made a totally slammin' party album. its what would happen if Marvin Gaye lost his voice and made an album right now (if he wasn't dead, and cussed a lot). i'm not even doing it any justice. i promise you, this is gonna be one of the releases this year that everyone is talking about. it's that good.

prick - "the wreckard" - out already, but internet-only. if you know who prick is, you know why i'm looking forward to it. if not, you need to get hip. ASAP.

weezer - "maladroit" (april 30) - what can i say, i sometimes have a weakness for nerd rock.

prince - "xenophobia" - ok, this is a asskisser answer, but let me tell you something. from what i heard of it sunday night (both played live, and what they played before the show), this album will be the f'n bomb. i just don't know if i wanna pay $100 so i could get it.

filter - "the amalgamut" (late spring-early summer) - with song titles like "well god damn me" and "my long walk to jail", i can't help but be intrigued.

nine inch nails - ??? - hey, i can hope, right?

I downloaded N.E.R.D. but I'm going to buy it in 20 minutes. It's great!! This will be the cd of the summer parties!

I also just got a version of "Irresistable Bitch" by Trick Daddy. Not as good as P's version, but cool.

Sleezy,

Yeah, Weezer's new Maladroit CD is going to kick ass. I love what I've heard of it so far, but it sounds like it may not be out at the end of April because of problems with their label. Sigh.... Here's hope it will make it out then.

LIVING COLOUR is recording a new album on some farm in New Jersey. Sometime in summer.

I don't know when (or IF) George Clinton will get a new collection out this year, but I'm eagerly awaiting it. There's collaboration with Prince that's like the ultimate piece of funk you would ever hear called 'PARADIGM'.

Also waiting on THE LAST WORD. THis is the Complete MILES DAVIS on WB and should be the first ABOVE_GROUND documentation of his musical relationship with Prince. Some time in May.

I hear Bootsy's working on something new to drop.

I just copped the JBs Reunion: BRING THE FUNK ON DOWN. This is a great piece of funk with all nearly all the surviving members of the JBs: Fred Wesley, Maceo, Pee Wee, Bootsy, Jabbo, Russell Crimes etc. If you see this cop it. It's available at CDNOW.com.

mico, that rancid/nofx split is really good. only bad part is that nofx totally changed up "radio". its a dub/reggae version. not bad, but... jarring.

I get a great kick out of David's love for cheesy pop that he tries to give validation. What was it last time? CHER? Gotta salute his drive, if not his taste!

Erm, I meant BY, not BE. Though in a dadaist kind of way, I'm sure the original syntax could have some kind of meaning. Heh.

All I said was that Madonna will be playing guitar on her upcoming album.Whether or not YOU think she can play is irrelevent,I'm just stating all the info I have about the album(as I've done with the other artists on my list).

Naw, no slack from this quarter, LOL, especially if the cheese is apparent.

Honestly, I might find a piece of pop like Madonna or Cher enjoyable (wouldn't pay to see either and I know I have Madonna's debut on vinyl), but my attiude towards music is a lot more political. The pop guys will always get their support from fans who go where the business tells them. I choose speak up for lesser known talents and can turn some folks on (this actually happens!).

What the hell are you talking about!!! The way you phrase your posting about Madonna you phrase it in a way to praise Madonna for actually playing guitar on her upcoming album. I in turn responded that her skills are amatuer at best you may listen to other artist but the fact remains that YOU are always bringing up Madonna.

You also said you listen to other geniuses or you telling us that you label Madonna as a genius!!!!! I hope I misread that because I will be very curious as to what constitue a genius to you. She maybe a genius as far understanding pop culture and how to redefine herself and she does not make the public relations mistakes that Prince has made to hurt his popularity with the mainstream audience.

Again I respect Madonna, she is a very powerful woman!!!

The topic of this thread is "Upcoming albums you're looking forward to".I listed several albums that are coming out this year that I am anxiously awaiting. After each artist's name,I listed all the info I currently have on the upcoming release. When I got to Madonna,I simply wrote..."She plays guitar on most of the songs, and the new album is said to be "edgy rock with electronica elements".Nowhere do you see me giving MY opinion of the album,or of her guitar-playing,because,obviously,I haven't even heard the album yet! I am simply stating all the info I have on these artists' upcoming album, kinda like a "preview" of what pop music will be like this year. That's all.

We all have different tastes. An artist that you consider a "genuis" somebody else may consider to be an idiot. It's pointless trying to explain what constitutes a genuis in MY eyes, because you may not necessarily agree.Go to my profile and look at my list of favorite artists....how many of those people would you consider a "genuis"? Anyway,I do respect your opinion and of course I agree with that last statement you made...lol...
