CONFESSIONS is a great R&B album, but USHER does not deserve all this attention of him writing about "real" things. He only CO-WROTE 7 or 8 of the songs and now people call him a good songwriter?? He is a good singer and dancer, so he earns a lot of his popularity, but he is not a true artist.

are u feeling alright??? Let's list the facts...ok...
Prince has won grammies, ama's oscar, he has been in a blockbuster movie, he has his own recording studio, his own lable, sold over 30 million, he is in the rock and roll hall of fame, he on a us sold out tour (usher is not even sold out his 1 show in Philly, Prince has 3 shows).

You don't hear many, if any, artists out there say I was influenced by Usher. I have never heard Prince say he is better than anyone else, and as far as his comments about money, they for years said he was going broke without a major record deal.

It is very safe to say that Prince has proven himself in every way. Usher is still wet behind the ears.

You don't think Prince is cocky? You must be a newby and you must not read his interviews. For the record being cocky has nothing to do with being able to back it up. Cocky is cocky. Prince may be better then a lot of musicians but why does he feel the need to tell us this instead of just letting his actions speak for themselves?

newby...I have been a Prince fan for almost 20 years, which takes me into my mid-30's.
What I am saying is Prince has earned his right to say what ever he likes..right/wrong or indifferent.

Usher was a wannabe Michael Jackson's little bitch when Prince was making a name for himself. So tell glow-worm head to come see us in about 20 years and let's see how great he is!!

YES, prince mastered the "art" of shittalking YEARS ago.

you would think that by now - after a Hall of Fame career & a diverse (& mostly solid) body of work - prince would be 'secure enough' to not have to "compare" himself to others, most of whom are indeed "inferior" to him in terms of musical talent.
still, it says something about a person, when they consistently say how "better" they are than others.

as for Usher, no reason for me to hate on him.
I think he's alright as a singer, hardly much in the way of "innovative" or trend-setting music. it's easy to get the impression that he (like Justin Timberlake) wants to be the 2000's version of Michael Jackson -
or at least dance like him.

what stands out to me about Usher is how young he looks, even with 'facial hair' - he looks like he's 10 years old !

then, with his "confessions" album - that took a lot of, um, nerve to sing about - apparently in good detail - about how your (selfish) actions led to the breakup of your relationship with your (also well known) girlfriend
(in fact, I heard 1 of those songs today, changing radio stations - something about how the other woman is 3 months pregnant or something like that.

I've heard that this album was "theraputic" for Usher..
hm.
okay.
we'll see what happens in his next "serious" relationship..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Usher: Swipe Me

By Lia Haberman

Usher's laughing all the way to the bank.

Yeah!

The R&B singer is trading in on his mega-platinum success to launch the first-ever celebrity debit card.

Uh, make that the first debit MasterCard. Last time we checked Hilary Duff beat Usher to the plastic punch with her own Visa Gift Card.

The "Yeah!" singer doesn't come cheap, though. Fans will have to lay out $9.95 plus a $10 activation fee for the Usher Raymond IV Debit MasterCard.

As a selling point, users will get discounts on concert tickets and Usher merchandise like posters, T-shirts and key chains.

Available via Bankfirst at www.ushermc.com, the card will also be sold at concert venues across the country on the singer's upcoming concert tour, which kicks off on Aug. 5, where, for example, the cash access option will come in handy for purchasing those souvenir Usher T-shirts.

The prepaid card, which can be used to make purchases, withdrawls and pay bills, features a straight-faced Usher against a black background with a diamond stud in one ear and the word "success" under his name.

Success is right. Usher inked a partnership deal with the financial institution that gives him a cut of the sales every time someone swipes his card.

It's all part of a world-domination plan by the actor-singer, whose most recent release, Confessions, is the biggest-selling album of the year, moving more than 5 million copies. The album and its lead singles, "Yeah!" and "Burn," have been Top 10 fixtures, with their videos in heavy rotation on MTV. "I'm all over the place, music is just one facet of my career," Usher said.

"This past year has been a year of real growth and change for me, so I felt that this was the perfect time for me to step it up in the business world," he said in a statement.

Already, the crooner's launched his own record label and film production company. He's also starred in such teen-friendly flicks as The Faculty, She's All That and Texas Rangers.

leave music alone.nobody cant even dance like him hmph!

Wade Robson is a great dancer though. He's way better dancer than Usher and Justin. Plus he produces some songs for newbies. If he wanted he, could kick both of them's asses.

And I think that's what he is gonna do next. This whole 'Project' thing for MTV was to get his name heard.

His song "Burn" really narks me. It's about Chili - yes?

Bastard doesn't even say sorry for screwing around on her. If you're gonna do the biographical song lark then at least take some bloody responsibility, you little shit.

There was an amusing story about him on Popbitch recently. Apparently he turned up at one of P Diddy's parties wearing a T shirt with himself on it and proceeded to demand that his M&Ms were shared out into glasses according to colour.... twat.

That's the classic "celebrity getting too big for his britches" cliché story: "Separate my _____ according to _____". I doubt it's true, as pompous as he is. They even parody it in a film called S1mone, in which Winona Ryder's diva character demands that her jelly beans be assorted according to color.

Do I hate Usher? No, Don't know him. Did he screw around on Chili beans? Don't know don't care. He Can fuck the entire mickey mouse club Who gives a shit? As far as his music, well it's a little Faggy and overrated. He sold millions just like the Spice girls. It means nothing. His dancing nothin special. For some reson he reminds me of that lil dead chimp named bubbles.
That being said, I'm not a 14 yr old girl so maybe i'm not suppose to get it.

Funny thing....I have been a Prince fan since 1978 and I have never heard him brag about his possessions or any of the other things that Usher brags about. Prince may have been snooty, stuck up, or pershaps introverted, but cocky just doesn't fit him. Just MO....

He's young and if anybody can reach that point, let them have it, when stars are so high up, there are many who hate or love for one reason or another...right now he blew Beyonce off the map, and if so many are digging him, let him be, he ain't bothering me

Another reason to hate Ursher:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/S...index.html

Usher: 'I've broken every barrier with this record'
Wednesday, August 4, 2004 Posted: 9:13 AM EDT (1313 GMT)

http://www.cnn.com/2004/S...index.html

(AP) -- Confessions may be good for the soul, but they've been even better for Usher's career.

Though he's been an R&B star since he was a teen, racking up millions in album sales, it took this year's steamy "Confessions" album -- in which the 25-year-old croons about broken relationships, adulterous affairs and sexy interludes -- to make Usher ubiquitous.

The album has sold more than five million copies in five months. He's had back-to-back-to-back smash hits with the songs "Yeah!," "Burn" and "Confessions, Pt. II," all so popular you couldn't avoid them if you tried. And now he's embarking on a major summer tour that will kick off on August 5.

Yet he's still not done. He plans to rerelease "Confessions" later this year with new material, and will be seen later this year in the Ray Charles biopic "Ray," playing Jackie Wilson. He's also agreed to star in a yet-untitled MTV film.

Q: What's been the biggest change in your life since your huge success this year?

A: It's the longest that I've been single, I'll tell you that.

Q: You'd think with the success you've had, it'd be more likely a woman would lock you down.

A: I can't find nobody that wanna lock me down. It's real tough.

Q: Are you looking for someone to lock you down?

A: My grandmother always told me don't look. (But) If I could find a woman who would want to lock me down, if she was serious, and she knew how to get me, take care of me, I'd let her take care of me, man. Every man want a woman that could hold them down. She's gotta have a whole lot of qualifications.

Q: What kind of qualifications does a woman need to get Usher?

A: She has to be able to take a lot dealing with me, she has to withstand a lot. I'm not easy, I'm not easy. I'll just put it this way, it would just be better to be my friend starting off, make sure you get your feet wet first before you go diving all the way into the deep end. I can be something else, but I can also be really good too. I'm a good guy. Everybody has two personalities, you know.

Q: Have people come up to you and said, "I broke up with someone after hearing 'Burn?"'

A: I've heard it both ways, I've heard people say, "You know what? As a result of your album, our relationship is stronger." I've heard some people say, "I'm going through this right now."

Q: This album created a lot of rumors about whether you were a cheater, a baby daddy ... was that frustrating for you?

A: Nah, not at all. As long as it was selling records, that's good (laughs). It helped sell more records. It's a world of tragedy, and no one is a stranger to it. So when I write these songs, or when I sang these songs, I think it aided, or gave a sense of a relief for people who were going through it. ... I think like a director or a writer.

Q: There are plans to rerelease "Confessions" later this year. Why?

A: There are just so many songs, if you turn on the radio, there are so many leaked records right now, and I feel like people right now they want that. And if you have still honest people out there who don't download, I want to make those records available for them. And there are some versions that are featuring other artists, like Alicia Keys. I've done so many records. I'm repackaging it with a few new songs that hopefully you haven't heard.

Q: Your music can be hard to avoid. Do you ever get sick of hearing yourself?

A: I could never get tired of it, man. It's really cool to ride around in your limo, or your truck, and you look over and you see the kids in the street dancing to the record. Or somebody pulls up next to you, and there's a guy, a hardcore guy bumpin' 'Burn.' It's like wow, I've broken every barrier with this record.

Q: There'd been rumors about beef between you and Justin Timberlake, but you've been spotted hanging out together. What's the real deal?

A: You'd better stop that man. You can't be serious. ... I do justice to the rumors by not getting into the rumors and shying away from them. There's no beef, they should stop that. If you want to compare us for business, it ain't fair, if you want to compare us for dance, it's not fair, so don't do that.

Q: You're getting back into the movies ...

A: It's going to be a dramatic music piece but not musical. I do plan on using my musical talent in it.

Q: Is there anyone's career you'd wanna have?

A: If you could put the career of Will Smith, Sean "Puffy" Combs, (Island/Def Jam President) L.A. Reid, and Michael Jackson all in one, there you have it. Those are some big shoes to fill, but I've got big feet.
