10 Things To Look Forward To Now That My Princefest Is Ovah...

Yeah, I know he's coming back to Chicago on August 3, and as much as I liked to go, I'm just not - so as far as I'm concerned, my big fabulous postponed and rescheduled Week Of Prince is done and in the past. He came, he saw, he kicked my ass. Now it's time to pack away all those freebie Musicology CDs, change my Beautiful Ones desktop wallpaper, and move on to my many other obsessions (though I'll always be obsessed enough for the Org kiss2 )

here's what's on my list now that my Big Crazy Prince Season is (ostensibly) over:

1. John Waters' "A Dirty Shame": it opens in September and I. CANNOT. WAIT. last i heard, it got an NC-17 rating. FILTHY!!!! woot!

2. The Cure's Curiosa Tour in Chicago in August: for ever so many reasons, i'm looking forward to this more than words can say.

3. The Pixies Live in Chicag in November: I've had these damn tickets all year. I've been in disbelief that I'm gonna see a Pixies show all year. WHEE!!!

4. Alleged Laurie Anderson show in October: I need a Laurie fix. The last time I saw her was, believe it or not, on the evening of 9/11. Seeing her that night was a hug from God - I was soothed to my soul spending the night processing the weird, tragic energy of the day with someone who's been one of my favorite artists for years...I'd love to see her again under more joyous circumstances. I keep hearing rumblings that she's gonna come through Chicago with a performance-based show (as opposed to a straight-on concert), but nothing's materialized yet. mad

5. Bowie REALITY TOUR DVD in September: bow

6. Bowie Outside/Earthling/hours BoxSet w/ bonus discs of goodies in September: I'm a sucka for the man's reissue CDs. I know it ain't right. drool

7. Freaking the fuck out this November: Regardless of who wins the presidential election this year, I'm getting very, very drunk that night.

8. Possible Prince jazz album on Blue Note: Anyone have news on this?

9. Getting to know my Sonic Youth DVD better: Such an amazing video anthology, but I've been so wrapped up in all this Musicology Tour stuff, I haven't really sat down and gorged myself on this yet. Same with their "Nurse" album...I love it, and I wanna get to know it better.

10. Those Freakin' Eurythmics CD Reissues: I'm not asking for much. Just 1984 and Savage, really (who am I kidding, I want 'em all). Is that too much to ask? Can't they just release this stuff already? GRRRR!!!!

****

What movies/music/events/goodies are you all looking forward to this fall?

You forgot 2 things, Anx. 3 as a matter of fact:

1) Talking Heads will finally release their long-awaited CD version of their 1982 live album "The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads". It will also feature some extra tracks that originally din't appear on the album. woot!

2) Everyone's talking about Purple Rain's 20th anniversary, but what about that other great Rock flim from 1984? That's right, Stop Making Sense! There should seriously be some sort of 20th anniversary treatment with that one too. It's a great flick featuring a great band from start to finish. woot!

3) Siouxsie and The Creatures are going back on tour this fall. You're in Chicago, correct? Well you can catch them there at the House of Blues on September 2nd. They'll be in New York a few days later. woot!

I can't think of upcoming releases for some reason. It feels like most of what I want this year has already come out.

So I'll just list things I'm excited about.

1. My lova coming home.

2. Prince concert w/ Bratchild in 3 days. yay!

3. Possibly adopting 2 dogs next week.

4. My brother returning from Australia all happy and serene.

5. Curiosa festival 2 days in a row in the middle of August. But more importantly, reuniting with good friends. Can't wait to see you all!

6. Hopefully buying a home sometime this summer.

7. Getting my grandma out of physical/occupational rehab and bringing her home where she belongs.

8. Bjork's "Medulla" August 31st. A highlight of the year, I'm sure.

9. Sending Franz Ferdinand their "secret package"

10. A buttload of remaster rumors from Prince, The Cure, Bowie and Eurythimcs.

honorable mention...a very slim chance of a trip to Alaska. A visit from Gooey?
