NIN + PRINCE = the truth

prince was credited for "ideas and sound", as it says
in the credits\booklet for nine inch nails' 1989 debut album
[pretty hate machine].
so to say that prince was an inspiration\influence is a given.

trent also states this is early interviews.

prince also did some unreleased\promotional club mixes
for nine inch nails' second single 'head like a hole
that was released in 1990.

[head like a hole - tambourine mix by prince]
[head like a hole - release it mix by prince]

there are also a couple of other mixes of the same track
that are uncredited. that are either by prince or flood.

Interesting.

First I've heard of this, and I'm been pretty deep into both Prince and NIN's music.

Not casting any aspersions or being a Doubting Thomas or anything. Just sayin'.

Pardon my crack-headed grammar.

"I've been", not "I'm been".

Those remixes are fakes, they have nothing to do with Prince. Some sad individuals just heard of Trent sampling a bit from "Tamborine" for "Pretty Hate Machine'" and decided to call those remixes "Prince" mixes or whatever.

Prince did however want Trent to remix some of his tracks. but it all turned out quite ugly. search the web.

those mixes have nothing to do with prince? PLEEEEASE.

sure, he didnt do them. but the music (intro - "tambourine", rest of song - "release it") is copywrited by prince. they had to get his permission.
now i know what this is all about. now i know exactly what i am.

nah, they don't need his permission, as long as he gets credited on the disc, and he gets paid for it. if they just sample a drumbeat they can get away with it, but if its a whole musical passage, that's payment time...
