I'm terrible at comparing one artist to another. I just don't like doing it. But I can put any artist's catelogue in order. So I'ma just gonna list roughly 20 artists that I really dig, and my favorite offering from each. Otherwise, folks like Prince and Bowie would be too dominant. So...

Prince - Lovesexy (although Sign would normally be right near the top)
Bowie - LOW (probably my favorite album)
Bjork - Vespertine (maybe my favorite album)
The Cure - Seventeen Seconds
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
New Order - Get Ready (if I don't count collections or EP's, I'd have to go with this)
The Smiths - Louder Than Bombs (so I included a collection)
PJ Harvey - Rid Of Me
Tori Amos - Boys For Pele
Madonna - American Life, Ray Of Light, Erotica...take your pick
Liz Phair - Exile In Guyville
The Pixies - Surfer Rosa
Beastie Boys - Check Your Head
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie
Roxy Music - Roxy Music
Tricky - Pre-Millennium Tension
Miles Davis - In A Silent Way
Joni Mitchell - Song to a Seagull
Sade - Lover's Rock
U2 - Achtung Baby
Ramones - Ramones
Blondie - Blondie
Talking Heads - Sand In The Vaseline...another collection redface
Eurythmics/Annie Lennox - In The Garden
Depeche Mode - Violator probably
and Franz Ferdinand!!!
