Ur most personal song...and why?

It would be a ballad I presume 4 most people, but what song, or songs even, remind u so much of a bad/depressing time in ur life that everytime u hear that song,,,,,it reminds u of that pain again.....

....or it could be the song that u had ur first dance too, first kiss, whatever.....just y was it personal.....

Mine:-

1) "If you go away"- New kids on the block

4 some reason, when my first love moved away, I played this song all the time.....u would think that to get over something like this u would play happy stuff.....even all these years later...that song still reminds me of those times.....pretty sad huh?

Really, if I listen to any kind of Prince song they remind me of my Uncle Sean that died last August 18th at the age of 28 of cancer (he was a Prince fan) Because all my life him and my dad have tried to get me into Prince but I never wanted to give Prince's music a chance. However, when my uncle died I went through a lot of crazy shit. So when I watched Purple Rain I understood the music and started to like Prince! So any Prince song reminds me of my Uncle Sean and also of how the day Prince changed my world around.

<----- There's a clue. 'Xcept for it ending with 'ing and not 'er. smile

Why? 'Cos it's a magical piece of music (sung by my favourite girl) with fantastic drums and strings.

Also because of the line "I just know that something good is gonna happen". It keeps me optimistic. smile

I can't listen to the Linkin Park song "Crawling" because it reminds me of my junior year of high school when I was very depressed and almost committed suicide.

"dream a little dream of me" by mama cass. it's not really connected to any particular event in my life - it's just the only song i can think of that's made me smile every time i've heard it, throughout my entire life.

Headphones by Bjork. My favourite orger played it for me on August 8th, 1996. It was the first time I had heard anything by her. The connection was electrifying, instant and complete. I hadn't listened to music for years and as my friend states it ~ Bjork opened the musical floodgates for me (with a lotta help from my friend). Even though I am one of the oldest orgers, my music collection is diverse and wonderful now ~ I had a lot of catching up to do. That day was truly a spiritual rebirth greatly heightened by Bjork and richly nourished by my friend.

Anna Stesia.

Why? Cause they're words to live by... I mean, I know the versus are Prince's own personal experinces, but once he gets to the Save me Jesus I've been a fool... and Love is God, God is Love... it's just a realization that the whole world needs to come to.

KELIS "Perfect Day"

I think of love, happiness and sunshine every time I hear this song. I can listen to this song in every season, any time and any place. Night, day, whatever -- same feeling. I've literally played it over 400 times. I experience ananda when this track comes on.

I'm sorry, but I really and truly don't know what that means. To me, this is Ananda:

Explain, please?

Aren't you familiar with sanskrit terminology?!

Ananda: bliss, delight, beatitude, spiritual ecstasy; the essential principle of delight; a self-delight which is the very nature of the transcendent and infinite existence.

'true' happiness; usually called 'bliss' to differentiate it from 'ordinary' happiness because this is a permanent condition (our true nature) as opposed to the happiness that always alternates with pain or misery. It is often combined with the other elements of our real nature - sat and chit - into a single word, satchidananda. See sat, chit and satchidananda.

Let me guess the term "Nirvana" just refers to a Seattle grunge band to you then?

Remind me never to ask for an explanation again. My apologies for not knowing sanskrit.

To RipHer2Shreads:

My apologies for jumping on you like that. A lot of people here at the Org are a**holes, so I just assumed that you were being cynical or condescending when you posed that question. Sorry. I'm used to getting weird a** attacks at my personal musical tastes on here, so I've been kind of hyperdefensive lately (especially after all that bullsh*t around April).

Simply Red's cover of "If You Don't Know Me By Now". It was the song that was playing when I made the biggest mistake of my life! I'm convinced that if I had made a different choice my whole life would have turned out differently. I can't really listen to that version anymore cause it bums me out. But maybe that's a good thing cause Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes' version is much better.

not sure if its the MOST personal song.. but Jeff Buckley's "Last Goodbye" is very personal to me.. it came when i was going through some of the biggest changes with me as a person.. there was depression with it.. but at the same time, some type of energetic excitement.. very strange time for me..

another is

Let it Be - Beatles

Damm... I know often these sorts of things are influenced by timing and all but linkin park? Their music is so terrible. Nirvana had way more personal songs, 'Dumb' is a song I get emotional while hearing, gee at least like Korn the band Linkin Park completely ripped off.
