The thing that really makes me cringe about her is that she claims her influences as Debbie Harry and Chrisse Hynde and says that she is nothing like Hilary Duff and isn't pop....but she sounds like a watered down Hilary Duff to me! At this point, I'm just happy it isn't Usher...or last week's...Jimmy Buffet?

I believe the same people who wrote Hilary's "Come Clean" wrote about 3/4 of Ashlee's album. Good way to differentiate yourself from Hilary. Work with the same people!

This is beyond pathetic. America is going lower and lower when it comes to music these days.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

The good news, if there is any in this, is that it'll drop by 50% or more next week and fall off the charts in a few months. Then we'll never have to hear from her again after Jessica disappears.

THE TARGET AUDIENCE

Dumbass#1: "Wowz, Ashlee was #1 this week. That is like, such an awesome CD. I play it all the time."

Dumbass#2: "OMG that is like, so fucken cool, Tiffany. Maybe, one day, we can like, be superstars too!"

*Giggles and muddled slang*

Both: "Let's go shopping!"

You've been watching the movie "White Chicks" haven't you? wink

Yes, because that's happened to Jessica, Britney, Avril, Hilary, etc.

They're gonna milk this bimbo for all she's worth.

And that's the thing right there. Even if her albums sales drop dramatically, we'll still have to see her ass all over MTV and all these other entertainment shows when she and those mentioned above don't deserve the recognition for the lack of talent that they possess. I'm telling you, I feel like we're in the dark ages where music is concerned. I love that Prince is back in the mainstream and that people are seeing that there are people out there that are still making real music and all but we need something new so bad. New music blood for rock, hip-hop, pop, and R&B. There are just too many no-talent birdbrains out there for me right now and when I read stuff like this, my heart just sinks. It so incredibly depressing. Will this ever end?

I was watching one episode of her show....why, I don't know. But anyway....her producer decided to add strings to one of her songs. And while she was in the studio supposedly "listening" to the strings. Instead, she was talking about cutting her bangs and what outfit she was gonna wear that night. They also showed her yawning during the string session.... mad that honestly pissed me off, she doesn't even care about her "music". A lot of deserving people would kill for a record deal, but instead people like her are ending up with them. shrug

At the risk of being pummeled by critics...

I will say that I bought this album last week when I bought Joss Stone, the new Lenny, and Musiq.

I have to say the album is actually GOOD. There's not a bad song on it. The lyrics are great. Her voice conveys layers of emotions -- you don't have to have a multi-octave voice to sing rock ... your voice just has to have character and be expressive.

Also, Pieces of Me (which I don't care for) is among the lesser songs on the album. Undiscovered, LaLa, Love Me for Me, and Shadow are better.

This does not sound at all like a teeny album. It sounds like a legitimate rock album.

Now, I don't know if that's simply a credit to producers, the co-writers, or just luck. I'm embarrassed to say, the album is a great effort.

It is cohesive, Ashlee came up with the concepts, and as I understand it, wrote or co-wrote the lyrics.

I don't own stuff like Hilary, etc but I've regretfully heard such in passing. This music is nothing like that. All you have to do is google lyrics to Hilary's generic, elastic songs and compare them to the Autobiography songs ... and you will see the difference.

Did I think the album was going to be good? No. But it was. I bought it because like someone said early, I liked "Unreachable."

Now, I have an album I've been listening to everyday. Is there anyone else out there who actually likes it? LOL

Anyway, if you watch the show, i can see how you'd be skeptical of the music anddetest her.

This shit has to be fake. I swear these labels have found a ways to pay off the right people to automatically knock an album to the #1 spot without enough people really buying the album.

They market these no-talent pop stars like they marketed Furby's - false hype.

Seriously, how many people do you really know that went out and bought this album???

I hope this doesn't come off as holier than thou but would people who listen to that type of music hang out in the org? I think the target audience is girls aged 5-16.

It's just weird that she, Michelle Branch, FeFe Dobson, Hillary Duff, et. al, - they all sound alike. There's no funkiness at all in their music. It's teen angst by the numbers music. They're all cute, though, and I would gladly do them all razz
