I like Franz Ferdinand a bit better but I've only heard each album a few times. "Float On" is a supberb track but I don't know if anything else on Good News For People Who Love Bad News matches it. I'd have to say they are both good-great albums but I prefer Franz Ferdinand.

I saw both videos the same night and was intrigued instantly. They do seem to be paired together a lot lately, although they have very little in common style and sound-wise. I had never heard about Modest Mouse, but it's a pleasant surprise. The album is really sad and searching. Not something I can listen to much right now. But I quite like it. I'm considering picking up two of their other albums, "The Moon & Antarctica" and "The Lonesome Crowded West". It always freaks me out when I get into someone I've never heard of and they have this whole back catelogue of stuff. Now Franz Ferdinand just totally rocks my socks off. I had been hearing about it from some Euro friends who were hyping like crazy. Then the hype started to build over here. And I thought it would be just that...hype. The first time I listened to it I thought, "well that's nice and trendy. whatever." But the 2nd time I swear I could remember every song after that. Every last one of 'em were stuck in my head, they're so catchy and fun. And that's why I think I love it so much. It's so rare anymore that rock is fun and memorable. They're a breath of fresh air and worth every bit of critical darlingship. They put on one of the best shows you'll see too.

I love Franz Ferdinand. They may be easily compared to the Strokes - which is also a fave of mine - but they don't seem to be trying to be the " IT ( so hip ) " group, at least to me. Some of my favorite songs from the album are Auf Ausche, dark of the Matinee, Micheal, Take me out, and This fire. It's a great album. Jeux Sans Frontiers

My exact thoughts on both albums. Franz Ferdinand is good, but they just make me wanna pull out my Talking Heads and listen to them instead.
