Fav remixes

Hey, ain't into remixes but some r good- remember the cash-in remix craze in late 80's-early 90's:-

1) Bobby brown ("Dance ya know it" "Remixes in the key of b")
2) Paula abdul ("Shut up and dance")
3) Jody watley
4) New kids on the block
5) BBD
6) Milli vanilli

Also remember the fact that often the video or single mix was different to the album version...like Bobby browns "every little step" or janet jackson "Alright"- sometimes very annoying.....

my fav remixes r

1) "Call it what u want" New kids on the block- infact i really rate their own remix album they did ("no more games") and this remix by c and c music factory is pure class from start to finish- very much of it's time- pop/house whatever and nothing like original!

and "No more games"- a remix of track "Games" by New kids on the block1 Hits harder with it's hip hop drum loops- different rap too!

2) "2 ca play that game"- Bobby brown A remix done in house style. released in UK years after the album it came off- was a huge hit in UK! Relaesed in 1994

3) "new jack swing" -12" remix- wrecks n effect! Same as video version- includes very sexist line not on album version!

4) "Alright" Janet jackson- includes Heavy d's brilliant rap (seen in video but not on album)

5) "Do the bartman"- The simpsons (House edit)- nothin' like house at all- just even harder drum machines with no guitar breakdown- I love it!

6) "This is the way we roll" (remix)- Mc hammer

7) "Gotta love" Jodeci- same as music video- slightly different but better then original nonetheless

8) "Theives in the temple"- Prince 12" mix- has coo, breakdown in midlle of song as seen in the movie "Grafitti bridge"

9) "Do ur dance"-remix to "Cream" by Prince and NPG! Not really even related to "Cream" at all- a new, very happy party song in it's own right- also "Ganster glam"- a distant relative of "Gett off" is also a blast in a cooler way.....

Many more but.....anyway what remixes u got u actually love and maybe even prefer over original? Say y too.....

1) The slowed-down remix to Janet's "Together Again"(I think it's called the "Jimmy Jam Deep radio" remix)--because it sounds better slow and I liked this video better than the original. She was sexier in it and the caged butterfly idea was soo metaphoric.

2) Mariah's "Heartbreaker" remix featuring Missy and Da Brat--I like when Mariah puts Da Brat in her remixes...she makes them better 90% of the time.

3) Mariah's "I Still Believe" remix featuring Bone Thugs N Harmony and Da Brat--I liked how they used some of the melody and partial lyrics from "Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory".... the part where Gene Wilder sings, "Come with me and you'll see a world of pure imagination". Just a great remix.

4) The Eric Leeds Remix of Prince's "I Hate U"--I love the way that man plays on this remix...it's absolutely beautiful to say that the song is a total kiss-off to some chick. This was my Valentine's Day song last year. I just put it on repeat while I was at work.

SWV's (and Michael Jackson) "Right Here/Human Nature Remix". This just might be my favorite remix of all time. thumbs up! worship

I was duped into buying MC Lyte's album because I loved "Light as a Rock." Little did I know that the version I came to love was a remix that was NOT on the album! Never listened to that album again. mad

I'll probably get chair for some of these, but:

Prince - Man O' War, Remix
Prince - Somebody's Somebody, Live Studio Mix (not sure if this counts)
Nina Simone - Feelin' Good, Joe Claussell Remix
Sade - Cherish the Day, Sade & Ronin Remixes
Maxwell - Ascension, SOS Remix
Erykah Badu - Bag Lady, Cheebah Sac Mix
Aaliyah - If Your Girl Only Knew, Remix
Aaliyah - Hot Like Fire, Timbaland's Groove Mix
Janet Jackson - Lonely, TNT Remix w/ BlackStreet
Lil' Kim - Crush On You, Remix
Super Cat - Dolly My Baby, Hip Hop/Bad Boy Mix w/ Mary J. & Biggie
LSG - My Body, Remix w/ Missy
112 - Only You, Club Mix & Bad Boy Remix
R. Kelly - Bump & Grind, Old School Mix
R. Kelly - Ignition, Remix
Mariah Carey - Fantasy, Remix w/ Ol' Dirty Bastard

What pisses me off is when the album version totally sucks (Lil' Kim & Aaliyah's in particular) but you go buying it thinking it's gonna be cool. Then you gotta track down the friggin' remix mad

Earth Song - MJ (remix by Hani) not the one on botdf. I think its on 12". "what about us" part is uncut on there unlike the remix on the botdf album.

HIStory - MJ (Tony Moran's history lesson)...atleast as good as the original. it's on botdf

My Heart Will Go On - C.Dion...I don't have it but it was on radio nonstop at the time and I loved it.

Bad - MJ(Dance Remix). it's on the 7" single. The song is the same from beginning to end but the bass line keeps going when the songs ends. new elemets(like guitar solo, 'hee hee's) keep adding one at a time until u get "bad bad really really bad" again.

"Alright" Janet jackson- includes Heavy d's brilliant rap (seen in video but not on album)

As much as she bugs me, Mariah had some great remixes. That's partly why she's had such great success (in the past, anyway) with single releases. I think the mid-90s was the best time for the house/club remixes. Couple of hers that I really like

Fantasy (Def Club Mix) - cuz I like the Mariah siren in the middle, and I really like the different sounds of each section (particularly the classic Chicago house sound of the last couple minutes) of this long-ass mix.
I Still Believe (The Kings Mix) - again with the Mariah siren
Anytime You Need a Friend (C&C Club Version) - cuz I liked straightening her hair on the ironging board like a moron in the video rolleyes)
My All/Stay Awhile - mostly cuz of the Loose Ends Stay A Little While Child sample

But Madonna has my all-time favorite remixes, especially the remixes from Bedtime Stories

Secret (Jr's Soundfactory Mix)
Bedtime Story (Soundfactory Mix
or Sex Cloud Remix)
Justify My Love (The Beast Within)
Justify My Love (English Mix)
- an unreleased mix, but SO EXCELLENT if you can get your hands on it. Reminds me of Soul II Soul
Deeper and Deeper - any of the Morales remixes

There's gotta be tons more, but those are a few of my faves

See, it's cute to hate on Mariah nowadays post-Glitter, just like Janet post-nipplegate, but I gotta give it up to Mariah for her remixes. She was the one who popularized that "pop diva-meets-street" sound that J.Lo used ad nauseum. I dig all those remixes you mentioned.

I've always said what I think of Mariah, regardless of of what period her career may be in. I think, at best, she's a mediocre songwriter and a terrible lyricist. But she works with good producers and remixes. I'm not gonna hate on here for Glitter. It was a terrible, terrible movie, but it was also terribly entertaining! One of my favorite disaster click flicks, alongside Mommie Dearest and Showgirls.

"Showgirls"....man, that movie is a disaster, but it's like a train wreck. You don't want to look, but you just can't help yourself. Everytime it comes on USA, I have to watch it.
