Finally...LIVE AID on DVD I hope this is the original airing and not the abridged version Vh-1 aired in 1995. That was missing some key performances!
"LIVE AID is to get a DVD release on November 10th. Record labels were invited to bid for the rights to release the epic concert with Warner Vison International emerging victorous. The four disc set will feature all the performances from the event alongside a documentary about the project 'Food, Trucks & Rock 'n' Roll'." something in your eyes is making such a fool of me....

One of the biggest problems with Live aid was it didn't have the 3 biggest stars perform at the time:-
1) No Bruce Sprindsteen 2) No Prince 3) No Michael Jackson These 3 were not only at their commercial peak back around 1985, but also they r all brilliant performers live- Bruce had a excuse (he had tour commitments) but Prince was just being an arrogent asshole and y no MJ? Not sure 'bout that one?

Not sure 'bout that one? Prince had recently finished an extensive, exhausting US tour (Purple Rain), had just recently announced he was quitting live performance for a spell (looking for The Ladder) and was working on recording Parade when he was asked to participate in Live Aid. He decided to submit a video version of "4 The Tears in Yours Eyes".

It was Princes perogative not to do live aid, but he could of done a hits medley in his sleep- woulda stolen the show- very good PR too!

Zep did a forgettable show. Jimmy's geetar wasn't his own, and someone handed him one that wasn't tuned, or tuned like he liked it, or something like that. Phil Collins filled in for Tony Thompson, if memory serves me. What I do remember is that Queen left the biggest impression on me out of everybody at the show. Bowie/Queen/Annie Lennox sang "Under Pressure"... This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Not sure 'bout that one? Bruce was in the middle of his "Born In The USA" stadium tour at the time. I think he paid for the Philly stage. Michael Jackson was probably too busy molesting a teenage monkey in his oxygen tent to put in an appearance, although I can't confirm this. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently
