Yoko Ono vs. Tony M

Y'all know from my avatar and the many times I've tried to defend her that I loves me some Yoko. A friend dared me to start this thread. Who do you honestly think is more talented?

Tony is more talented- he could dance, rap, wrote some good raps (ie "Sexy mf") and actually did well on "Goldnigga"- plus he was a good speaker in the NPG interviews and had a good presense on stage.....

Yoko just commercializes eveything of John but does not let johns die hard fans to hear any of his unreleased stuff.....she also manipulated John and apparantly wouldn't let Johns first son Julien, to the funeral or something like that.....she was a real bitch to him anyway.....plus her records r complete arty garbage and in interviews all she says is boring shit about how much of an icon john was.....zzzzz

Yoko is very clever though and yes, proberly alot cleverer then our Tony, BUT this is 4 most talented and frankly, she had very little, except 4 her art but i don't personally like it so Tony wins hands down!

you've mentioned NOTHING of her art/music, just her personal/business life. hardly a fair comparison.

Wow, I'm loving the postive reaction Yoko's getting around here!

Check out the double album "Approximately Infinite Universe". If she had an editor to cut it down to a single LP it would've been a lot better, but there's more than enough absolute killer on there to make it worth the price. "Yang Yang", "Death of Samantha", "What Did I Do!" are just great. "Move On Fast" and "Kite Song" haven't aged a bit.

"Blueprint For A Sunrise" is also brilliant, a concept album on feminism and the suffering of women, worldwide -- "Herstory". You might not like it if you didn't like "Rising" though. Oh, and if you loved "It's Alright", get "Starpeace"! It just glows with positivity and warmth.

So I'm not the only person who owns New York Rock! That's gotta be the guiltiest pleasure in my collection. It's a loveable little thing, ain't it? The first stage musical containing the line "I see you ate your chicken/And saved me a plate". lol

hmmm This is a tough one. I don't even know Yoko's music and I'm still going to have to go with her over Tony M.

All anyone needs to do is just take another look at the Gangsta Glam video (him and Prince lounging in leotards by the pool whofarted ) to make that decision.

It's pretty hard to find anything of hers, anywhere... except of course Double Fantasy which turns up EVERYWHERE.

Yoko's extremely underrated both as a musician and as an artist! She's a bit nutty, but thats what I like about her. Its a shame some people will never let her live down the legacy of John Lennon.
Change it one more time..

Yoko Ono was a renowned artist well before she met Lennon. She's still doing incredibly well today and her exhibition recently in London met really favourable reviews. I'm not a great fan of her art but it pisses me off when people see her as just John Lennon's partner when she was established in art circles well before that.

Yoko Ono is a Fluxus artist.

Tony M. has perhaps used Nexus styling products on his moustache.

If this were a serious thread the comparison would make more sense. How about this: Who is more talented, Yoko or Laurie Anderson?

No she wouldn't - she'd answer:

Yoko Ono-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no...

Anyway... is this thread question 4 real?

Yoko Ono man, without a doubt.

4 all the hyperbole that were the bed-ins, and hair-peace actions etc - the press and public at large seemed 2 overlook the fact that the main participants also saw the ridiculousness of what they were doing. It was all so tongue-in-cheek, but when confronted with such arrogant and confrontational 'reporters' in that room in Amsterdam 4 instance, is it any wonder that John found it hard 2 retain his demenor?

Lennon and Ono suffered some of the most vitriolic abuse any couple in the media has ever had 2 endure - the fact that Ono was female, japanese, and some 'wierdo commie artist with an agenda' was obviously more than enough back then for the media 2 squarly pin the blame on her shoulders 4 the break up of the Beatles. The fact they were already collapsing in on each other like a souffle in an oven mattered not.

She may not be everybody's taste, but she's certainly no monster, and she's kept Lennon's legacy pretty damned respectable in my estimation.

I'm not afraid to admit that she made me cry at the last MTV Music Awards. She's no monster, indeed.

I know Tony M. personally, have hand fed him strawberrys erotically, and spooned with him on several lonely candle lit nights behind Arby's.

So yeah, definately Yoko.

Hey man,

Larry & Tina love you, because interfurons and ??? don't mix . Are there any White Castles where you live, because that would seem a better place for Tony M to hang around. SPOONING, that's so sweet. falloff falloff falloff hah! hah!

Owwwww hard one..... Yoko goves me the creeps, but lately I listened to Gold Nigga, and thought, man, without Tony this album would be much better.... What a disaster is this man!! Tony M is not talented at all!!! Who hears from Tony at all?? Without John Yoko would be famous also i think.....

So Yoko is more talented (not with singing, coz aaaarrgghhhhh that ain't no singing!!!)

Good thing of Yoko is her love for John LENNON!!! biggrin
