Errr, that would be why the AMAZING album Destiny was solely written and produced (excpet for Blame It On The Boogie) by the brothers, mainly Michael, followed by Triumph. They'd even had their first UK #1 in 1977 and a hugely successful tour. Puppet? Why was Michael the one aged 16 to take Berry Gordy aside alone to talk about giving the group creative freedom, thus resulting in them leaving the label and negotiating with CBS?

To me the only song that was worthwhile was Billie Jean. Those others listed.... uhmmm not impressed.

Rod has written MJ a no.1 "Rock with you"

There were other cuts on that album that RT wrote that were solid hits but you are not listing... Lady of my life is the first one that comes to mind. A huge RB hit.

bwhhahahahah funny stuff.

1. I don't think Michael needed quincy 4 much. U may not realise this, but Michael would have ended up with hits, without Quincy. As proof he did end up with a a number of hits, without Quincy. THe BIGGEST hits, have always had Michael's hand in them. Always.

2. You seem to think Quincy was responsible for Michael's enormous success. Are you ripping of the pixies or just playing around in your own little world?

I always believe that even if i were not to like an "artist" 4 whatever reason, props need to b given where they are due, and to say crap like, Michael needing Quincy or being a puppet is just a load of crap.

Remember to check out the home demos os Don't Stop Til You Get Enough and Workin Day & Night. The "production" of them being played with milk bottles, cow bells and a keyboard isn't all that much different from the final versions. Those were all worked out beforehand. Quincy and Michael fitted like a glove, but they split at the right time before going stale - since Q was doing less and less, and his role on Bad was almost nothing more than Executive Producer (I'd say the talent of Q that I miss the most is his ability to whittle down the songs and come up with a perfect tracklisting) - but that magic is nowhere near present in any more than a couple of standout exceptions of the other "Pop" artists he's worked with.

Remember, it was Michael who pushed to get Q in the first place. The studio wanted Maurice White and thought Q was too old and too Jazzy, but Michael didn't back down (after some wise advice from Barry White).

There is no denying that Q added something to Michael's work (like most of the ppl michael CHOSE to collaborate with (and yes, i also thought the track listing on Bad was awesome), but i do make the point, that without Q, Michael would have done just as well, and he has.

Of course. It's only more evident from all the absolutely shit, lifeless cover versions of those great songs. I mean, Mya doing The Lady In My Life = yawnsome; Boyz II Men singing Human Nature = awful; Ian Brown doing Thriller = foul; the myriad of covers I've heard of The Way You Make Me Feel = laughable; all those boy bands doing MJ & J5 medleys in concert = sickeningly crap.

but other than that most of j5/mj covers are horrible as u said. a uk group currently covered CanYou Feel It which is the cheesiest thing I've heard in a while..It's simply difficult to cover MJ's songs. it's not easy to find vocals like his.

Yeah, I've heard it. The group is called V. They remind me of that utter twat Lee from Blue with those WHINEY vocals. It's like watching 100 variations of those old tapes of Peter Andre doing his MJ impersonations on old Aussie TV clips.
