Rondstadt Starts a Riot! Pandemonium in Depends!

http://story.news.yahoo.c...e_ronstadt

I guess free speech is dead. Long Live Bush.

Vegas Casino Boots Singer Linda Ronstadt
Mon Jul 19, 5:25 PM ET

LAS VEGAS - Singer Linda Ronstadt (news) not only got booed, she got the boot after lauding filmmaker Michael Moore and his new movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" during a performance at the Aladdin hotel-casino.

Before singing "Desperado" for an encore Saturday night, the 58-year-old rocker called Moore a "great American patriot" and "someone who is spreading the truth." She also encouraged everybody to see the documentary about President Bush (news - web sites).

Ronstadt's comments drew loud boos and some of the 4,500 people in attendance stormed out of the theater. People also tore down concert posters and tossed cocktails into the air. (IT'S OFF THA CHAIN!)

"It was a very ugly scene," Aladdin President Bill Timmins told The Associated Press. "She praised him and all of a sudden all bedlam broke loose."

Timmins, who is British and was watching the show, decided Ronstadt had to go — for good. Timmins said he didn't allow Ronstadt back in her luxury suite and she was escorted off the property.

Ronstadt's antics "spoiled a wonderful evening for our guests and we had to do something about it," Timmins said.

Timmins said it was the first time he sent a performer packing.

"As long as I'm here, she's not going to play," Timmins said.

Ronstadt had been booked to play the Aladdin for only one show.

Calls to Ronstadt's manager were not immediately returned.

In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal before the show, Ronstadt said "I keep hoping that if I'm annoying enough to them, they won't hire me back."

Looks like she got her wish.

During one of her New York concerts,Madonna spotted Michael Moore in the front row.She praised his film and urged the audience to go and see it.She also demanded that everybody register to vote (translation: GET BUSH OUTTA THERE).Surprisingly, her comments didn't really cause an uproar, but it's a safe bet that most of her fans are Democrats anyway, lol.

No. No clue. This is a musician other than Prince doing something Political. So I go into the Music: Non-Prince section instead of the Rabid & Polarized section.

Only idiots would dare to tread into that section.

speaks alot about Ronstadt's fan base VS Madonnas ....

with Ronstadt - she has a much older wiser fan base ... with Madonna you have teenybopper "worshipping fans" that will "listen and obey like zombies" her every whim ... razz

"oh what will she preach me to do next .... oh ... what ... vote ... oh ok ... i have not thought about voting ... maybe i should ... and maybe i should do just whatever madonna tells me to do also .... because she is so in tune with what is good for me .... "

So, what are you saying, a wiser fan base opposes Michael Moore and sucks Bush? That's a stupid thing to say. I think she picked the wrong place to make the message. She USED to be politically active (remember when she dated Jerry Brown, the California Governor?) and outspoken on all things Liberal, so, to be fair, her FAN BASE would follow those opinions and at the very least, be aware of those opinions.

The fact that she opened her yap in Vegas, in a Casino - I don't know how many liberals you'd find in a vegas casino. Sounds like a joke looking for a punchline.

Madonna, on the other hand, was in one of her own concerts, in New York. If she'd said, "I think Bush is brilliant the way he's polarizing our country and it's just awesome the way he's fucking up free speech by lying to the public on a regular basis, almost entirely for personal gain", I'm sure she'd get booed and kicked out of the place too.

And, no, I didn't say that, Madonna said that in my example, so don't go kicking me out of the Alladdin in Vegas.

Some old and wise fans. Apparently, they started tearing shit up at the venue. THat's connie for you. This starts to look more and more like McCarthyism. How come big business is so quick to fire anyone that says anything anti-Bush when if the reverse were true, it would be a non-story. If people at a 3 Doors Down concert started gettting all pissed and tearing up the place because of a pro-Bush comment, they would be animals and 3 Doors Down would have had their freedom of speech denined if they were kicked out of the hotel they preformed for. We all know it's tur.

That would be another thread entirely, LoL

In the meantime, let's just generally discus the fact I love Americans and their loopy view on democracy.

I must admit I am still able to be shocked at the way some parts of the world shift back into the 1950's uptight mode of not letting people be who they are.

I remember people in the US actually have cd burnings after the Red Hot Chili Peppers posed semi naked (their famous let's just almost cover it up without socks) on the cover of The Rolling Stone back in the bleeding 90's.
I was totally surplussed (that how you write it?) at the sent in letters in the issues after that, people who cancelled their subscription and taking the issue off public libraries.

It made me realise why American minorites are still so radical. That all kinda faded here in Holland.

Hehehe. Baiter.

Anyways. I just want to say that the reaction she got kinda spooks me with the elections coming up.

Is there a chance people will team around a bad president cuz he is singled out? Will this be reversed democracy?

I'm not just saying it to get people started. I was telling someone else recently that I would rather be eaten alive by maggots than be governed by the John-John's.

Not so long ago,Ronstadt did an interview where she said that it makes her uncomfortable to know that there may be "Republicans and fundamental Christians" in her audience.Apparently, she is VERY pro-liberal and anti-conservative.She may have to start specifying her preference on her concert posters...

This show is for liberal Democrats only

lol or maybe she and Barbra Streisand should hook up and do a tour together, lol.
