THE MUSIC (4 CD + 1 DVD box set)
September 6th, 2004 -
According to some Sony offices a new box set will be released on early September (with 6th International - 7th USA release date). The box set will include 4 CD with biggest hits, rarities, unreleased tracks, live performances and more, 1 DVD "Live At Bucharest" 2 hours concert with unreleased footages.
The box set includes a leather bound book featuring over 60 pages of rare photos and memoribilia from MJ's personal archives, an indepth essay from Nelson George (Novelist, Screenwriter, Filmaker, Rolling Stone, New York Times, Mojo, etc.), a complete discography, timeline and much more!

That looks like a cool box set.Under normal circumstances,there would be reason to celebrate.But unfortunately,this release is gonna be overshadowed by Mike's trial,which begins in September.

wow. sounds like an incredible package, that actually had some thought put into not just the content. i will get 4sho. I waited for years to get somehting like this. Shame it didn't come out much earlier given the pending trial.

Sounds great BUT I think they should release just 1 Cd of unreleased stuff with no added DVD and people would take it as a normal new album and buy it on those merits- a box set will only be bought by the hardcore only! Release a single or 2 as well and album would sell well (be great if they released "I'll be there" adult version on radio)



Did sony not learn from it's arrogence and general marketing failure of the History box set back in 1995? Again the public do not want yet more of his hit's that everyone has bloody got!
That is y History ultimately failed, dispite the good tracks from disc 2- I'm afraid the same mistake will happen here and people would pass on the new, unreleased material 'cuase of the high price tag this would get and the fact that everyone owns "Thriller" etc...(or the new No.1's CD realeased last year)

Sony, stop being fools and just release one cd and maybe through in a new remix cd too!


Oh yeah, and please release at least 1 concert ( and not as part of a boxset) as MJ is the only 1 in bloody history of even moderately sucsessfully artists/groups not to bother to put out even 1 concert on video, despite being one of the best performers ever and the fact that his tours were bloody huge! That is most unfair....."Bad tour" or "Victory tour" please.....oh yeah and a proper treatment of "Moonwalker" dvd soon, maybe bundled with "Captain EO" (anyone remember that?)

I guess these 2 live versions are from the Jacksons' live CD (I hope). They are great versions.

I also think Michael is an artist whose live performances are worthy on CD since he doesn't really SING. Most of the songs are playback.

And the ones on the disc are probably going to be live. Notice not much stuff from HIStory Tour? Coz it was mimed mostly. Dangerous was live with exception of few songs. bad and the tours before(with his bros) were all live

Wow. This sounds like an incredible boxset. Love to pick this up. Been dying to get his performance of "Human Nature" on DVD for ages. Great stuff.

Hey, LightOfArt, do you remember that Australian singles boxset they were supposed to have released last year (or a few years ago, I can't remember the exact date)? It was available to preorder via HMV Australia and Amazon, and I had done so, but the release was cancelled at the last minute. I really wanted it! It was basically all of his 3'' CD singles in one box.

I will buy this set for the rarities; however, what I really want are:

-the original LP pressings of Off The Wall and Bad finally on CD (after RWY and DSTYGE were released, Mike had the remixed single versions replace the album versions on subsequent pressings, same with a few songs on Bad)
AND
-the single (45) versions of some of his hits, which still are pretty much unavailable (the single version of Human Nature still hasn't appeared on CD, outside of a 1983 Japanese CD3, for example; also the original single version of Thriller is MIA on CD, and there are several others of note)
-a box set of REMIXES alone (especially the rare 80s mixes) would be incredible

Its about time they releeased an official live DVD, I would have prefered a Bad concert (since I've yet to find an imaculate video or dvd of any shows from that tour) but the Bucharest concert is great.
The CDs sound good too, can't wait for September

I've got some of his 7" 45 singles from Bad and Dangerous.there's not much difference but the intros.

Wodner if some of these songs were penned by him this year, and are about what's happening to him at the moment? The titles are a little risque, given the connotations to what's happening, so i think this is mainly 4 the fans, and perhaps the "special thing" he said he was "working" on 4 the fans? And this rounds out that contract with Sony?
