YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!!!

The Hives are awesome! The new disc is growing on me but their first 2 (brealy legal and vendi) kick ass!

I saw them last year for 10 bucks and it was the best show I've ever seen for such little money.

Funny was watching the lead singer prance around the stage like Mick Jagger and say:

"Vee are da Hives and You must love us"

The Hives are so contrived. They have some catchy songs, but I can't look for another minute at the lead singer totally biting Mick Jagger's moves and persona. disbelief

Even if it is meant to be tongue-in-cheek (which I have no idea if it is), I just cringe when I see them. If I were Mick, I would sue them. lol

It's a bit and they're punk rock, they're not the stones, nor do they pretend to be. It's showmanship and funny. They are a great punk rock band all dressed the same, just like the stones err

Kewl. Just like back in the day when classic Rhythm n Blues lovers hated BRITISH kids playing their heroes music and make it their own.

I would never judge a band on the ones that went before them. Saying they badly imitate the stones is doing them in justice, in fact.

I love their music. Never seen them live. Just a few interviews and they seem to me a bunch of guys that do not take themselves too serious. That is a big plus to me.

Why is it that people always have to categorize music.
They play rock a la Mick Jagger.
Lenny Kravitz is the new Prince.
Blablabla.
Turn off that prejudice.

Nope. Don't get it. Can't help but think of the original. Although I think it's pretty obvious that they DO pretend to be the Stones, even if it is a bit. Anyone can see the similarities. shrug

I suppose when you say "people", you mean me, right? As I said in my previous post, I do like some of their music. It's just that whenever I see them, I can ONLY think of Mick Jagger. To me, they don't really have their own style if everytime I see them I automatically think of another band. Damn, a LOT of bands emanate one that came before them a la The Stones, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc. That doesn't mean I can't like them and enjoy them for what their influences are.

Slave2daGroove said that they are a great punk rock band, and believe me, I'm a huge punk rock fan and have been listening to it since I was twelve, so that's not the part that doesn't sit well with me. I'm sure you could catch me tapping my foot and nodding my head along to their music, but I just can't watch their videos. shrug

hmmm Here you say that they are not pretending to be the Stones, and then in your original post you stated this: "Funny was watching the lead singer prance around the stage like Mick Jagger...."

Hmm, last I checked Mick Jagger was a member of the Rolling Stones. hmm

Please don't take this personally anyone this is only my chewyopinion,
but I think that a lot of ppl go along with what gets thrown at them.
Are The Hives doing anything artistically challenging?
I'm sure they are good for what they are doing and I realize
that music all has it's place, but to me whatever I have heard
from this whole "resurgence of Rock" is just plain bored bored bored

Don't worry gooey, it's just a Diabolic Scheme to thwart The Vines' inevitable world domination.
