RipHer2Shreds said: Hey, this isn't the best musical taste thread...it's who's is most like mine?
Dang it...keep hitting post before I'm done. I can't say that I've seen anyone here with "bad taste" in the little bit that I've been here. I do like that a lot of people have a wide range of tastes. That's my style, and I like when others don't confine themselves to one genre. [This message was edited Tue Jul 20 21:46:58 2004 by RipHer2Shreds] My vote goes to RipHer2Shreds because of that underlined part. When I was filling out that profile information, I didn't feel like sitting there and naming all the artists/bands/composers that I liked, so I narrowed it down to the ones that I was listening to the most at that exact moment. If that profile question detemines who has the "best" musical taste on the org, than uhhh okay. I agree that anyone who can list artists that are from two totally different genres in the same sentence has the best musical taste. I'll listen to anything. I don't care whether it's pop or country, just so long as it's a good song. In fact, I hate going to the music store, because I hate the fact that they insist on putting the music in sections based on the genre that society has chosen to place them under. They should be placed alpabetically by the artist's name. I hate having to go to the "Pop Section" to find a Prince album....why can't he just be behind Portishead and in front of Princess Superstar, damn, that would be soo much easier. Anyone who can listen to any type of music, from Mobb Deep to Mozart, has my vote. I grew up on oldies, which surprises all of my older friends, because I'm 11+ years younger than them. I'm 23 and many people my age don't listen to anything older than 1985; trust me, I've looked. I think that everyone on here as good musical taste. This reminds me of those votes I did in high school, like "Who should be Homecoming Queen", "Most Likely To Succeed", and "Most Popular". I never was good at these things. I always voted for the underdog. SPREAD LOVE UNTIL THE SUN'S FINAL RISE--The Duality a.k.a. "WYNTER SKYE"

that would totally cut down my time spent in music stores as I have to dig through "pop", "r&b","dance/electronica","imports" and THEN find the vinyl if the store carries it...some real lame stores also have "alternative/indie" sections which makes my searching all the harder...I hate that!

Of course alot of the heavy hitters, and frequent posters that have been listed have awesome musical tastes. I just want to give a lil pat on da back for myself, Funkyslsistah. I don't post much or share much knowledge. Yet my friends would say that my taste at least is quite varied, and at times surprising if you saw me and knew my personality. That's what my friends said when they looked through my CD case and saw "The Carpenters", "Starship", "Atlantic Starr", "SWV", and "Quad City DJs" all next to each other. They were like, "Girl, what are you listening too?" SPREAD LOVE UNTIL THE SUN'S FINAL RISE--The Duality a.k.a. "WYNTER SKYE"

I know way too many people with that problem, especially lifting and selling. YES!!!! I have been a victim for many years. I didn't want to turn into one of those people who wouldn't let anyone borrow their CDs or DvDs, but it's too late. One dude borrowed my B Sides and Purple Rain DvDs December of '03 and he just returned the B-Sides last month and still hasn't turned in the PR jawn. I waited so long I bought the B-sides again b4 he retuned my first one. I don't want to have to buy PR again, but it looks like that's the way it's gotta be. I'm so heated about that! I can't fault the record stores for organizing as they do. I'm so anal, that I do the same thing! Speaking of cutting down time at the record store, I need to do that. This week alone, I've been to Electric Fetus (local record store) THREE m. f.'ing times! That place is gonna be the death of me! I've lived dangerously close to that place for 8 years now, and it's only in the past 2 that it's gone beyond habit to donwright addiction! I have made some scary musical choices in my lifetime, but it's all in good fun. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
