I saw the Brothers' Johnson, bought their music, - I love them!!! Those bruthas' were and still are fierce. Should have won many accolades and awards, underrated again!!!! Today, just garbage receives praises and awards, with a few exceptions - What a disgrace!!!

Even though they made it famous, I have a thing for Shuggie's version... it's more.... fragile.

Trust me, George Johnson's vocal performance is FAR superior. The Bros. Johnson version is just superior overall. It's not that Shuggie was a hack, not in the least, but as a singer he was less accomplished.

I love Quincy, but I was sooooo disappointed with his 'Jook Joint' CD.I HATED what he did to "Stomp",bringing in all those guest rappers and totally ruining the song. And now i hear that he's bringing in folks like Snoop and Dre for his next album.

disbelief

well, I see the point, Q was forcing to stay "hip" much to strong... and yes, I would never trade it for the original Stomp version of course, but the groove was just 2 damn catchy... also worked fine on the dancefloor

Anyone notice that you can sing "Gigolos Get Lonely Too" over "I'll be Good to You," or vice versa?

I love those guys. Even bought "Kick it to the Curb."

I wonder, was this song ever released as a single? It's one of the best songs that Rod Temperton has ever written.I bet MJ would have loved this song for his 'Off The Wall' album, lol.

It was on the B side of the UK 12' of "Stomp"...

Well at least you are not talking about freaking Madonna for a change!!!

Anyway, man I wish more young brutha's would look to the Brother's Johnson or any of the old funk bands so they can be inspired to sit down, practice and learn instruments and through hard work and practice they can develop a style and technique like Thunder Thumb's Johnson or Bootsy Collins but I guess the allure of going the Puff Daddy route is to great.... The day of the battle of the bands are dead, dead dead.....I am so glad when it comes to music I grew listening to these powerful brutha's in the 70's and 80's.... Right on!!!!
"Say it Loud - I'm Black and I'm Proud!!!" - Brother James Brown

"Make my funk the P-FUNK...I want my funk uncut...." Brother George Clinton
