Janet in negotiations for new movie role... AP: Janet Jackson In Negotiations To Star In "A Dangerous Woman"
Variety reports Janet Jackson is in negotiations to star in the lead role of Universal Pictures' dark comedy A Dangerous Woman for first-time writer-director Elisha Van Reyes. The film will center around Cynthia Cooper (Jackson), a melancholic housewife who knows exactly what she wants. She wants to be an actress -- just like her childhood idols -- and she is willing to do ANYTHING to get what she wants. What she lacks in intelligence, she makes up for in cold determination and diabolical wiles. To carry out a few schemes, including the calculated murder of her husband (Don Cheadle), she recruits some unwitting local teenagers including one boy whose infatuation with Cynthia leads to sexual escapades and predictably troublesome consequences. As she pursues her goal with relentless focus, she is forced to destroy anything and anyone that may stand in her way, regardless of the ultimate cost or means necessary. Production on "A Dangerous Woman" is set to begin in Vancouver, B.C. in October. This premise sounds a little too much like "To Die For", starring Nicole Kidman. In other Janet news, her tour has been postponed until "early 2005". Is this because she's going to be taking a movie role?

is this based on a book by the same name? if so, i read it a long time ago and the book is a hoot - i remember it being like a john waters movie, and i pictured sandra bernhard in the lead role...if it's the same thing, it could be a really funny movie.

Some people on the Janet forum were asking the same thing, but it hasn't been said anywhere if it is or not. A couple of people said the same thing about how they hope it is. It would be awesome to see Janet in a well-written role. I think she's a great actress, you could tell from Poetic Justice, but unfortunately that wasn't exactly a great movie.

Iv'e never seen To Die For, but when I read this Janet article, that was the first thing to come to mind. Hollywood is officially out of original THOUGHTS & WRITING. What's next for Ms. Damita Jo, a starring role as Lt. Uhuru, the early years? Jeux Sans Frontiers
