The music, mostly. I loved it the first time I ever heard it and then fell in love with it even more after listening to it on exstacy during my shameful "Drug Phase". boxed

NOT that Homogenic is my favorite, but "Unravel".....WOW! And "5 Years"....so true.

I must admit that the run of 5 Years and Immature back to back spoke to me in more ways than one.

I connected BIG time, just coming out of a relationship at the time. It's EXACTLY as one does, coming out of a reltionship; first you blame the other, than you hit yourself over the head for being stupid.

Since I
met you
this small town
hasn't got room
for my big feelings

Violently happy - 'cause I love you
Violently happy - but you're not here
Violently happy - come calm me down before I get into trouble

I tip-toe down to the shore
stand by the ocean
make it roar at me
and I roar back

Violently happy - 'cause I love you
Violently happy - but you're not here
Violently happy - overemotional
Violently happy - I'll get into trouble real soon if you don't get here BABY

Violently happy - 'cause I love you
Violently happy - I'm aiming too high
Violently happy - it will get me into trouble
Violently happy - I'm driving my car too fast with ecstatic music on

Violently happy - I'm getting too drunk
Violently happy - I'm daring people to jump off roofs with me
only you can calm me down

I'm aiming too high
soothe me

nod

Although Vespertine is a close second, my personal favorite is Homogenic. It is ust so damn unique sounding and the lyrics push about every emotional button on my body. I'm sure it helps that I saw her on this tour in a field in Belgium as well. I just tie a lot to Homogenic and it sits as my favorite.

Björk means sound to me. Nature's voice. Her every album a progression from what she left behind.

The SugarCubes had her bawling, then Debut was a firm shout out of independency.
Post was her being troubled. And found her searching.
On Homogenic she found that inner voice, which meant that her beats became more gentle.

The sounds on Selmasongs are gentle, but very impressive; they impress fear and stength. I have the movie version of 107 Steps and I can never listen to it. Music so good it leaves an impression on the soul so deep it is imprinted in it.

Then Vespertine. What can I say? This woman's music becomes more divine the less instrumentation she uses.

A good friend of mine is sceptic about coming album Medulla, but I am not. My favourite album of Björk is always the latest....

I heard Triumph Of The Heart, a track not on the list to be released, but she speaks of this track while relating to Mark Bell in the Q&A section; "mark bell came later into it he´s funny . i e-mailed him "where is the line " and like a year later he e-mailed me a little idea for it . then when i was mixing in london , i hadn´t been in england for ages then , he would turn up at the studio a lot and ended up rescuing "triumph of the heart" for me . that was the last song and had been the hardest one to get right."

Wow, your impressions are WAY different than mine. I guess that's what makes her so great. She means such different things to different people.

gosh, that's a tough one. i can't let those albums compete against each other. they're all so interconnected to me. bjork is someone who i'm a HUGE fan of, and i wasn't even aware i was such a huge fan until a friend pointed out all the bjork stuff i have lying around my apartment. i never really thought of all that stuff being the fruits of "fandom" the way i think about being a prince freak. i just think of her music and videos as being art and ideas and colors and images, and they just happen to stem from her. so, i dunno....each of her albums lives in its own little vacuum where i'm concerned, untouched by what came before it or what comes after...but at the same time, they're pieces of a bigger puzzle. i love vespertine SOOO much, but i love post too, for entirely different reasons. really, i love them all pretty much equally. nope, can't make a choice on this one.

Agreed. I love 'em all. I still need to check out Gling Glo.

Homogenic? gentle? confuse there are some gentle moments, but this one has the most visceral crash-boom-bang beats of them all. overall, it's like the sound of an erupting volcano colliding with a hurricane.

Of all her cd's I think Homogenic is the one with the most textures in it. Post was the cd she did where she got to work with many of the producers that she had wanted to. Debut I think was just a fun, get it out of your system cd. Yes, Homogenic has the crashing sounds, but it's combined with softer layers underneath.

I have to say I am way behind. I don't have anything past Homogenic. I got lost somehow and started collecting Sugarcubes stuff. I love Debut, simply because it was her solo debut and I'm a bit nostalgic when I hear "Human Behavior" "Big Time Sensuality" and "Venus As A Boy"

Post is perfect from beginning to end

Homogenic is just lovely

I really can't decide

My favorite of all of Bjork's albums is Debut. As amazingly consistent as her projects are, there is something special about this one.

id agree....i have to be in the right moment to enjoy some of those "clashing" moments....

surpisingly i enjoyed her versions of these tunes much more via her live interpetations.....

but the album is indeed just as beautiful as her others.....today i vote for vaspertine.....for the honest inner beauty that was displayed..

I love the beats and strings combo on Homogenic. I guess the beats would be the volcano and the strings the hurricane.

wow eek

never thought of it that way, that's kind of amazing. i always picture a meteor burning through the earth's atmosphere where i hear that song.

OK, I just have to say that Homogenic is her fiercest album cover. You are either going to be totally anihalated or completely saved.

At the time I bought Homogenic my roommate would always ask me to turn it off when Pluto came on. She said it scared her. I had the opposite reaction. It absolutely thrilled me. I could see how she thought it sounded evil but Bjork wasn't singing about anything evil and one day I got to thinking how someone would connect the force of that music with evilness while connecting harps to angelic music and I thought, why would only evil be allowed to lay claim to a musical tour de force? That gave me the image of angels marching towards Armageddon destroying any and all evil forces in their path.

I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! woot!

I think it's the album cover. It's from her website. http://www.bjork.com If you link it from there it will turn into a nun picture.
