I had a slamming jhericurl from when I was around 14 to 17 years old. It was dropped! Hung past my shoulder blades. Then I started wearing it in cornrows, plats, etc. Now it's down, ponytail, etc. I liked Ready For The World. Their first album was really good. Their second "Long Time Coming" was o.k. I hope their next album is hitting. At least they can play instruments. I don't have anything against them.

Digital Delay was a jam

Ceramic Girl

Can He Do It Like This?

Tonight

Love You Down

Oh Shelia is a 1999 rip, but why is ok for Andre and D'angelo to rip off P but not RFTW?

Most of these songs had a nice slap bass sound, a pretty decent band

thumbs up!

Melvin, the lead singer, had a solo album out a few years ago. The single that was release was nice..shrug

Melvin has had two solo albums. Ghetto Love in '94 and Bedroom Stories in 2000. both are must haves for anyone who loves the slow jams.

Wow. I had no idea they were still around. I second the notion of only welcoming their return if the curl comes back too! lol They were fun, but does anyone really want anything besides their old music?

awh - i liked Melvin's solo stuff - and RFTW's stuff too . . . i'm very interested to hear their evolution . . . Melvin and the Evolution - yeah that's what they should have called themselves. as much as everyone says they stole from Prince. i don't hear it really . . .

do your thing - is what i say - everyone else from the 80's is doing it - why not RFTW!!!!!

you say this like you're truly excited. dude, they had one...no, two...no, let's stick to one...good song.

anyway, enjoy that cd!

Shit, their entire first album is classic! Get the fuck outta here with that one or two good song bullshit! Not that I have high hopes for a new project for them but don't take away from what they did in the past. RFTW is a classic old school group.

Sounds like this isn't really a NEW album at all. It says it's tracks recorded from 1994-2001. And from this review it doesn't sound promising.

Review by Rob Theakston
Who knew that from 1994 to 2001, '80s electro-funk masters Ready for the World were making music? Certainly not anyone in the mainstream consciousness, and that's definitely a good thing. Anyone listening to She Said She Wants Some would be in sheer denial that the genius behind such hits as "Love You Down," "Oh Sheila," and others would offer up such a trite, cold platter of clichéd pop and rap that's three parts baffling and a dash of insipid mixed into a whole mess of horribles and gone wrongs. Lyrics like "My horniness just goes on and on because I'm alone/That's why I picked up the phone and made a booty call" do the entire Ready for the World catalog a total disservice, and that's just one of many examples of unoriginality that could be cited ("Hit the sheets/But keep them neat/For the atomic dogg lover"). Brilliantly generic R&B beats over totally banal lyrics run across the 12 tracks here — to a degree unparalleled by most releases out there today. It's amazing that anyone involved with the group would sanction such a horrible collection of trite songs. There isn't even a gem in the pile to speak of; it's more like pieces of anthracite coal that should have stayed in the mines. This collection should be avoided by almost anyone, especially those wishing to preserve their fond memories of such a genius group that offered the world some blazing funk decades ago. Some things are just better left in the vaults.

I liked a lot of their songs:

Tonight
Deep Inside Your Love
Oh Sheila
Digital Display
Ceramic Girl
Love You Down
Mary Goes Round
Long Time Coming
It's All A Game

They really knew how to rock a slow jam.
