Mary Jane Member Doing A Jazz Album!

Former Motown Recording artist JoJo Lead singer of the Mary Jane Girls sang the platinum hits like "All Night long, In My House and Candy Man". JoJo (Joanne McDuffie) was sort of like a female version of Rick James, complete with beaded cornrows and a tough attitude; the Mary Jane Girls huge success generated numerous television appearances such as the American Music Awards, Grammy’s, MTV, VH-1 and Soul Train. JoJo's voice has been sampled by numerous artist such as L.L. Cool J., Heavy D, and Mary J. Blige just to name a few.

I have no idea what the other ladies are doing. When I did the show with Rick in D.C., we had put the group together the year before. We disbanded again, and I kept going with Rick. Out here I'm doing the Mary Jane Girls with two other girls. I've done backing vocals for the late Barry White album he started working on shortly before his illness. As for the other girls (Candi, Maxi, Corvette)? I don't know. I haven't spoken to them in four years.

I've been trying to do a reunion CD for the past 10 years with them. I have two or three boxes of demos. It's not that the music is bad, but I don't think that what I'm doing is what they want now. They want you if you're under the age of 20. I'm not going to stop trying.

Good music and good vocal. The way you're put together is not always to the liking of other people, but the finished product has withstood the test of time. If you've been in the music business for any length of time or have been listening to the radio, you'll know the Mary Jane Girls has been sampled and covered by a large number of acts.

I started off as a jazz soloist. I did that for 8 years before singing with the Mary Jane Girls. However, I am so excited about the recording deal I have with GRP Records home to (George Benson, etc.) and with my upcoming jazz solo album this is the best. I’ve always wanted to do this forever. I have the right staff behind me to support me & my music.
I know my fans will love this album. I have some funky stuff they will enjoy. I have everybody on here from Roy Ayers, Michael Franks, Candy Dulfer, George Benson, Pamela Williams, Rick James.
