I love the 90's = bad idea

VH1 dropped the ball on this one folks, a total wash out. I was wondering how they were going to pull it off because the 90's was when music was no longer original and hip hop turned gangsta ( I did love Snoop, Ice Cube, Biggie) and the movies were two hours plus instead 90 minutes and TV sitcoms were awful, and the list goes on and on..

WTF was VH1 thinking? dead mad hmph! disbelief

There was a lot of great music in the mid-90s...REM, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, and a bunch of other "alternative" acts went way into the mainstream...some pretty good TV, too - Roseanne, Seinfeld...indie cinema was just starting to become a big thing...it's a shame if VH-1 isn't capturing all that, because in my memory, the mid-90s was a pretty exciting time to be alive.

Sorry, I wasn't into the Alternative music much. It's just that the 80's had so many great moments and all those artist from UK like DUran, DUran, Culture CLub, that Come on EIlene song, Sting, Phill Collins, Stevie, Michael, even Jermaine, some guy named Prince put out his best stuff, Whitney houston, the birth of hip hop when it was fun and energetic and not about taking somebody's head off, New Edition (my teenage years, LOL), The Born in the USA album, Madonna, the best horror flicks, the era of the first video games, the era of the block buster movies, Jessie's Girl, Corey Hart, come on....Those artist and moments were much more memorable than the 90's. Basically, there was a lot of new creative shit that was born in the 80's and the 90's was simply a continuation of what the 80's had started. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it - LOL. As a Yankees fan & Cowboys fan however - it was a great Sports decade!

Sorry, I'm not into sports much. lol

We're just gonna have to agree to disagree, though if I saw the VH1 specials, I'd probably agree with you that they're not all that. I wasn't that thrilled with "I Love the 80s" - there are only so many times I can deal with watching Hal Sparks sing sitcom theme songs.

I just don't think enough time has passed for most people to have any potential nostalgia for it. Maybe waiting later in this decade, a few years from now, would have been a better time for it. As of now it seems as if the zeitgeist isn't THAT much different.

I was actually all for I Love The 90's, but I've watched some of it.... and something is definitely lacking. It seems they trimmed the number of commentators down, and they aren't very good.

Plus, they need to get rid of that fucking dancing baby. OVERKILL!

I always find it funny/ridiculous that people get all nostalgic about a time period that wasn't even that long ago yet. I mean, it's one thing to think back about high school and all, but the fact that there's a whole TV show about it?! I actually joked about them doing a 90s nostalgia show when they started all the 80s ones here in Holland over 5 years ago. Sure enough, here come the 90s shows now.

I guess people have the attention span of a two-year old with ADD now, what with fashion changing just about every two weeks, and all these nostalgia shows. They even have a I heart 1998 show! disbelief

Damn, it just makes me feel old because everything is treated as "old school".

I swear, I going to start my own show called I heart 20 Minutes Ago!

We'll all be getting together and talking like, "Oh yeah, hey you guys....remember just 15 minutes ago when I got up to use the bathroom? Damn, that was hilarious! *sigh* Those were the days...."

The show needs more time and perspective. It came too soon. This show shouldn't have happened until 2010. See with the 80s a lot of people had 14 years to reflect on the decade and really get that perspective, but with the 90s its not there yet. VH1 should've waited longer to make this special.

They better not try to a part 2. I doubt it.

Their FIRST album was on! I used to be a Spice Girls fan back when I was a freshman in high school. I had a one-year love affair with the girls. I wore that record out sitting on the football bleachers ditching class listening to "Last Time Lover," "Naked," "If U Can't Dance." I loved Mel B the most.

Vh1, hire me for this special. I lived the 90s!

I thought that they took the formula too far with "Best Week Ever" but that is a pretty good show. Now the "A to Z" show is pretty terrrible and "I Love The 90s" just doesn't work for me. Bad idea. They should just do another "I Love The 80s".

Yeah, yeah! What the hell was that? Best Week Ever? I mean come on. The show is just dead and the talking heads are full of themselves. What are they gonna do next? Best Day Ever. Like OMG! Uhh, Shaq getting traded to the Miami Heat [insert punchy talking head joke here]. Followed by another talking head giving another lame a** joke. Please VH1, STFU with these shows. Goodness.

It looks to me like VH-1 is more concerned with magnifying the cheesiness or campiness of each decade rather than talk about the cool stuff that took place. It's one long comedy bit.

Perhaps as many have suggested, it was just too soon for this special; however, I am inclined to agree with the initial sentiment. There were a few high points, but I felt the 90's were (for the most part) musically bankrupt -- and certainly unworthy of a fond remembrance.
